Diaper Bag Recommendations Needed

I am currently using a Baby Sac diaper bag and LOVE it! I bought it just before my daughter was born and it's been great for the last 5 months. However, as my daughter gets older, I'm starting to carry more items during our outings and realize I need a bigger bag. I look at diaper bags everywhere I go and can't seem to find what I like. If you can recommend a bag and a location where I can get one, I would really appreciate it. Here are some of the features I'm looking for:

Must have an adjustable shoulder strap
It needs to have a zipper, preferably without the big flap that some bags have (like the messenger bag style...the flap gets annoying)
I love that my Baby Sac has two large compartments inside, one for baby stuff and one for my wallet, coupons, camera, etc. Would love to find another bag with this feature.
I don't want it so big that it feels like I'm lugging a suitcase everywhere.
It would be great if it had at least one outside pocket.
I'd prefer to not have a "cutesy" bag with cartoon characters.
No designer bags, preferably under $60.

I'm not asking for much, eh? Now you know why I'm having such trouble finding one! If you can offer any suggestions, I would be most appreciative! Help!! Thank you!

What can I do next?

Back when my girls were little I didn't use a diaper bag. I went into the purse section and found me a really cute bag with compartments in it and used that. I loved it and got lots of compliments on it. Men and women both were asking me where I found my diaper bag at. My sister in law made her own diaper bag when she needed one. It was super cute.

Hi Lori,

I've tried so many diaper bags that either people have given me or I bought and none of them have worked too well. What we actually ended up going with was a regular camping backpack. It has lots of pockets/compartments for storage and I use the waterbottle holders to carry a bottle of water for me and a sippy cup for my daughter. If I needed to carry something that needs refrigeration, I just used a soft blue ice pack in one of the compartments. It's very durable and I just throw the whole thing in the wash if it needs a cleaning.

The other bag I found useful on short quick trips was a gardening bag. The one I got was from Target. It had lots of room and lots of pockets. Hope that helps.

I actually have one for sale. I wanted to sell it directly vs consignment because we paid $50 for it. I am asking $20. It sounds exactly like what you are looking for. I used it for my purse/diaper bag for about a year. It's a black Diaper Trend brand with black & white checkered liner, pockets inside and 2 on each side on the outside, no big flap, just a zipper. I have pictures but I don't think I can post them here. You can email me at ____@____.com (take out spaces) and I can send you 2 or 3 little pictures.

All the best in your search.

Hi, I just got a new bag and love it. I bought for use with my nearly 3 year old and baby (on the way) I couldn't wait to start using it. It's a Skip Hop, although i can't remember which one it is. I am not the type to put everything and the kitchen sink in my bag so the smaller size should be fine for me with 2 children. They also make a "duo" version if you need a bigger bag.
It's a messenger style (with no annoying flap)and has several different kinds of pockets everywhere, a zippered pocket for wet clothes and another zippered one for mommy items perfect for a large wallet, sunglasses, cell phone etc.
Also I love the price point of this bag.. under 30 at target. I think BRU sells this brand too.
I wish you luck in the search for the perfect bag for you!

L.,
I now have a 2 year old and after going through several diaper bags, the one I have now has been my favorite. I have had it for about 6-7 months and it still looks almost new. It holds a ton of stuff, has adjustable straps, comes and the fabric is easy to clean. Mine is like a lavender color but after looking online they only have pink right now. It opens with a very wide opening since it opens like the old fashioned medical bags with a stiff edge opening. It has a outside zipper pocket and an outside velcro pocket. Inside it comes with a zipper pouch that is removable (that's where I keep my diaper and wipes so it makes changes easy) and a bunch of mesh pockets on both sides. It also comes with a waterproof zipper bag which is great for wet or dirty clothes. The best part is that it was cheap. I think it was $30 which considering how great it is, it is well worth it!! The bad part is you have to order it online. It comes from Land's End. Just go to there website and look up diaper bags. It's call the Do it All Diaper Bag. They used to offer a lot of colors, so if you don't want pink, you might want to call them and see if they will be offering others again. Good luck and let me know if you need more info.
