Has anyone tried the new disposable diapers that are flushable? You buy a kit and the liners are reusable. I was wondering how well they work.

I thought they were OK until I tried pocket diapers (modern cloth) and found them to be SO much better (more economical and more convenient). My husband hated G-diapers and he likes the Bum Genius much better (even better than disposables).

We mostly use cloth but I bought a starter kit of g-diapers and have used them a few times. I like them. I have never flushed them, only tossed in the trash. But I haven't had any leak issues. Right now there is a special deal on Amazon for buying the refills. They are 10% off until April 22 (Earth Day). If you do the subscribe and save feature you can get a total of 25% off. (You can just cancel the subscription immediately after placing your order so you don't get any future shipments.) A lot of people use cloth inserts inside their g's though. I have also used cloth inserts in the g-pants. The lady at www.nappyshoppe.com makes some really cool inserts specifically for gdiapers and she could probably answer any specific question you have about them.

I bought a starter kit of the gDiapers, just as a back-up in case my cloth diapers were all in the wash. I like the idea of them, but the velcro on the gDiapers started to curl up and not stick correctly. I don't know how many times I caught my baby walking around the house naked because the velcro had come undone!

I use FuzziBunz cloth diapers and have never had a problem.

i tried them when my son was a newborn. i was excited about them but we only used them once because they leaked terribly. we used cloth with an overpant for the first four months or so with a diaper service but eventually went for the nature baby disposables that are supposed to be mostly biodegradable. they actually work extremely well and are about the same price as regular disposables.

the g-diaper? i love them, but I prefer using cloth diapers. I pull out my g-diapers when my son has a bad diaper rash or we are traveling. They are good though. I can even put a cloth liner in it too. They are expensive, but worth it if you are environmentally conscience. I wouldn't recommend flushing them if you don't have good water pressure. But they do flush without any problems otherwise.

I used them for a while and I hated them! My daughter was constantly pooping out of them, and I never had a clean one to change her into.

I've heard that if your septic system is old, they clog it up. Other than that, I've heard that people like them but they are the same price as disposables so might as well just go cloth all the way and keep diapers out of our landfills!!!

It sounds like you might be talking about G Diapers. I haven't used them but I have heard they are very expensive and tend to clog. If you are considering it, I use BumGenius cloth diapers and like them a lot. I save a lot of money using cloth. As for the G Diapers I figure if you are going to the effort of washing the diapers you should at least save the cost of buying new ones:) I buy my diapers here: www.momsmilkboutique.com When you buy cloth you have an initial outlay of money but I have a six month old and have only spent the money to buy 24 cloth diapers- a huge savings.

D.,
We have. They are not more convenient than cloth if you flush them because you have to tear off the outer paper part. On occasion, they have clogged the toilet. If you don't flush the paper part, they might not. They're not cheaper than disposable. BUT, they do work well and they are more biodegradable than disposable if you toss them in the garbage. And you don't use quite as much water than if you wash cloth diapers, especially if you just toss them. We currently use cloth during the day, disposable when we go out, and the G diaper at night (two inserts and a nylon cover (typically used for cloth) on the outside in case there is a leak). This baby pees a lot!
