Did/does the Pill Prevent You from Losing Weight? Make You Gain Weight?

I got lap-band in September 2010, and lost nearly 90 pounds in the first year. I'm still working on it- we live a healthy lifestyle and I have employed the help of a nutritionist/dietitian to make sure I'm eating right & making the right choices to continue my weight loss. It just dawned on me this morning though-- I literally only lose weight when I'm on my period. The three weeks that I take my active birth control pills, I lose absolutely no weight, and it has been like that since I got my band. I remember telling my lap-band surgeon months ago that I only lose weight every fourth week, that my plateaus last exactly three weeks.

Have you experienced this before? Has the pill made you gain weight? I've heard women talk about the connection between BC pills and weight, but my gyno has sworn up and down on multiple occasions that there is no connection.

Seems like too big of a coincidence to me...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hmm... sounds like mixed experiences! I'm not going to stop taking it just yet, I have a gyno checkup coming up first week of April, I will talk to her about it then. Perhaps a different pill may help.

I have a few extra pounds that I can't seem to shed since changing BC. I would not be surprised if your issue really is the BC. You can discuss the brand and type with your GYN to find one that suits your goals.

I was on the pill for medical reasons. I gained 20 pounds the first 4 months I was on it. And as soon as I got off of it, 2 yrs later, the weight came off in a few months (I did nothing different). I also broke out with acne all the time, which I never had my entire life.

Yes, BC pills always made me gain weight! Hated them for that reason.
