any truth to the wives tail that you get less sick with boys? statically speaking, i'm due for a boy, but so far my nausea is looking to be every bit as bad as I've always had. I have no strong preference for the sex, I do have a strong preference for not wanting be so terribly sick this go around.

What can I do next?

The only time I was ever nauseous with any of my pregnancies was when I was taking prenatal vitamins. Nixed those, nixed the nausea (and headaches, and vision problems, and a lot of the edema). Huzzah for Flintstones!

Only one live birth (3 into 2nd and 3rd trimesters)... but I was pregnant with both boys and girls

Sorry ... baby's sex has no bearing on the morning sickness ... I was actually sicker with my son than with my daughter! I hope that it passes soon and you have an easy delivery! :)

My first pregnancy, with a boy, was a breeze. The second one though, also with a boy, was horrible! I had never been so sick in my life. Some days I'd throw up six times. The nausea got better after about seven months. Everybody kept telling me I was having a girl because the second pregnancy was so different from the first one. Nuhn, I had a beautiful boy.

Old wives tale. Every pregnancy is different as each woman is different.

My first son was great. I was only 21 and told everyone who still menstruated to got pregnant, lol!

My second son at 29 wasn't so great. Tons of Braxton Hicks, couldn't work, no appetite. My son wouldn't grow in the womb until the last month.

My triplets were 2 boys and 1 girl. I was 39. How do we explain that one? LOL It was the best experience and the worst experience in my entire life! It was wonderful to have 3 babies inside but I was in such pain and misery, kept losing weight, couldn't eat. It was HELL!

It's just the luck of the draw on how your hormones work on each pregnancy. I've heard so many women say it's worse with women and so many saying it's worse with boys and so many saying were great or all were bad or mixed like me. It is what it is.

I have had chronic nausea and vomiting with each pregnancy.

1. boy--sick all day every day for first 8 months then tapered off a little til end
2. boy-sick from day one til about 7months -not much after that
3. girl-super, super, super sick all day, all the time, on 3 diff meds for the sickness etc. I am a few weeks from my due date and my sickness is still going super strong.

So...I think depends on pregnancy, but I have been just as sick or sicker than with my boys with this pregnancy.

with my daughter I was horribly sick! All day. I couldn't even keep water down. I had to be on meds with her. Thankfully I felt much better when I was 15 weeks and had a pretty easy pregnancy after that. With my son, I felt great all the time! No morning sickness at all.

I was very sick with all 3. First 2 girls. 3rd boy. I was given medication while pregnant with the boy for the vomiting. I'd say he was the worst vomiting wise.

1st pregnancy-Boy- I felt like I had a horrible hang over all day but I never actually vomited. I was tired, had headaches, nothing tasted good, nothing smelled good. It lasted from about week 6-week 10, then after week 10, I felt great!

2nd pregnancy-Girl- I felt even more hung over and even more tired but still no vomiting. It lasted about week 5- week 13, then I felt really pregnant and huge.

3rd pregnancy-Girl- I wouldn't have even known I was pregnant if it wasn't for the test. I felt great! I wasn't tired, had no symptoms at all. I thought for sure I was having a boy because I felt really good, but we were surprised when they told us we were having a girl.

No truth to it at all. I had a girl, girl, boy, and girl (in that order) and I was sick with all of them, the worst with the last one. Each pregnancy, ironically, was worse than the previous and each bout of nausea lasted longer than the previous one. Every woman and every pregnancy is different.

I had no nausea at all with either pergancy: 2 girls and a boy, a girl and then my last was a boy. A friend of mine has 2 girls and the first was just a bit-eat some crackers and felt better, the second she had to take medication to ease the nausea and was dehydrated at the 2nd trimester.

My pregnancy with my son was textbook perfect. No morning sickness at all. I did have trigger foods that made me feel queasy (couldn't eat sweets or drink diet coke) but when I was pregnant with my daughter I had morning sickness for five long months! It was terrible! So the wive's tale held true for me. However, a friend of mine was the exact opposite. She had m/s with her son and not with her daughter. I hope you aren't miserable for very long!

With my first, I felt great, and would cough, or hear someone clear their throat and it would make me gag and throw up.. Everyday anytime, until HE was born. But I felt great!
The 2nd time, I was sick to my stomach the intire 9 months but ever threw up. Just felt right on the verge of it. But didnt. (except a couple days when I had a fever and stomach virus) But felt lousy sick until SHE was born.

W/ my DD, morning sickness started one week after finding out I was pregnant (5 weeks pg). It lasted all day and controlled what I could and could not eat.
It promptly ended around 12-13 weeks. I had horrible gas and indigestion in the latter half of the the pregnancy. Oh and I couldn't drink my beloved coffee.

W/ my DS, morning sickness hit me like a ton of bricks at the grocery store one night during my 8th week. I could eat anything-but I had to eat often to feel ok. I had horrible migraines w/ him too. It lasted well into my 16-17 week. And popped up every once in a while afterwards. No indigestion or gas-but terrifying constipation. (Drank coffee the whole pregnancy.)

Based on my above symptoms...I think I'm pregnant w/ a girl. We'll find out if I'm right in 2 weeks!!! :)

I would say the nausea was different w/ each but equally bad! ;)
GL!

I had the worst morning (etc.) sickness with my son. First and last trimesters. Ended up using sea bands (pressure point wrist bands) instead of taking meds. (Helped, but had the odd side effect of making me woozy.) Vomited several times in labor, too.
With my first daughter, I was only queasy and only for the first 20 weeks (pretty much exactly halfway through it went away). Okay, I did vomit in labor, but only once.
With my second daughter, morning sickness hit at 17 weeks, lasted several weeks, went away for almost a month and came back with a vengeance for the duration. I vomited all the freaking time. Randomly. While driving. It was bizarre, because it was never a lot, just frequent. With my son, it was copious.
Hope you're feeling better soon!

Ehh.. I was pretty darn sick with both of mine. The only difference was that with my 2nd (daughter) I was no longer working, but was taking care of a 2 yr old boy all day. I think I managed the round the clock nausea much better when I was working. I ended up taking Zofran when I was pregnant with our daughter. With my son, I would have taken it if I'd have been keeping up with a toddler all day (and if I'd known about it).

It might have been a touch more severe with our daughter. But it was bad with our son, too, so I don't know. I sometimes wonder if maternal age has anything to do with it. I was 29 with our son, and 32 with our daughter.

They were both so bad, we stopped after 2 kids.

I had a boy, and I was sick from 6 weeks pregnant, until the moment he was born. In fact, I puked on the table waiting for my c-section. I had to take medicine just to eat. It seems like out of the people I know, they had easier pregnancies with girls...now that I think about it.

I believe scientifically it has been proven that extreme nausea (the kind the puts you in the hospital extreme) occurs more often when pregnant with girls than boys. But regular morning sickness is supposed to be no different between the two.

With my 3 boys, I was never sick, not even queasy.
With my daughter, I couldn't even keep down water. I lost 25 lbs in the first trimester. I had thought it was normal morning sickness (since I had never had it before) but I did almost end up in the hospital when the doctor realized just how sick I was. Zofran and I became very good friends.

I couldn't tell you the difference between boy and girl because I have two girls. Each pregnancy is so different and with my second I had morning sickness all morning, day and night but I had none with my first daughter. Also with number two I had the worst acid reflux and she was born with a full head of thick hair. So there is truth behind the more hair they have the more indigestion you get. My doctor gave me some pills that dissolved on your tongue that helped tremendously with the nausea. I'm not a fan of taking medicines while preganant but I had to so I could eat. Congrats and hope you feel better!

Each baby, each pregnancy is different...and that means sometimes similiar too.

I was sick in the early am with the boys and around 7 pm with the girls. I know it is awful. Before the twins, I thought I had gotten away without any, but had a miscarriage. Although it stinks, you know you are pregnant.
