Did You "Try" for a Boy or Girl & Either Got One or Didnt?

I know some people don't like when people prefer one gender over the other, but honestly I think nothing is wrong with it & I never look down on anyone for feeling the way they do. I have 2 sons, 1 from a previous relationship who is 5 and one who is 4 with my husband. I am currently 5 weeks pregnant and wanting a girl however before deciding on getting pregnant or not, I was completely satisfied with the fact I could have another boy. I just want opinions on if you tried for a certain sex, what did you do? Did you wait 3-4 days before ovulation, or ON ovulation day, etc. If my oldest son was my husbands child then I'd say with two boys, I'd expect another boy, but we only have one together which is a boy so I don't really think I can guess? Just want to hear your experience :)

What can I do next?

I guess when you come close to loosing a baby like i did with my son it didn't matter what the next one was. And besides I don't think there is anything you can do to get get the sex you want anyways. So why even get worked up over it. I have a friend who did all the stuff to have a girl and ended up with twin boys! I think people need to look past not getting the baby they want and be happy it's healthy

I have a daughter that I have raised since she was 6 months old. She is my husbands child and the "mother" left right after her birth. I have been with my husband for 18 years now and about 5 years ago we decided to try to get pregnant. It took me 3 years to conceive. I prayed for a blue eyed boy. I went online and looked at the ovulation calendar and the baby boy tracker because I have already experienced raising a baby girl and when i finally got pregnant I was going through a very tough time with my daughter in her teen years. When we went to the specialist to see what we were having I was a nervous wreck being afraid the doctor would tell me I was going to have a girl. I could not sleep the night before. Everyone said I should be ashamed and I should just be happy that I was having a baby. Don't get me wrong, I was very blessed to finally be pregnant but I was going through the worst teen years with our daughter and I knew this was going to be my only baby so I wanted a boy since I had my girl already. I wanted him to have blue eyes so they would be just like my Grandmothers eyes who raised me. That way I will always be able to look into her eyes. I got my blue eyed boy and my girl is on the right track. I am so very blessed. Don't feel bad.

We have 3 boys--didn't exactly try for it, although I'd always joked that I wanted an army of boys to protect 1 little girl.

We do put great stock in the timing theories. Our 3 boys were conceived on days 14, 15 & 17.

My sister and her hubby have a boy and a girl. The boy was conceived on day 15, the girl on day 10 (they tried to do it this way).

Hubby wants to try for a girl in a few years, so he jokes to me that we'll only have sex once a month--4 days before ovulation, so he can increase the odds of having a girl. We laugh, but I think he may be half serious ;-)

I was a little sad when I found out my 2nd was another boy. See, I was planning on having my tubes tied and I really wanted one of each. When I found out he was a boy I shed a tear because I had a name picked out and everything. But in about 48 hours I was totally ecstatic that he was who he is.

Today I have 4 healthy boys. My thought is that God has given me a very special job with these guy or He has a really odd sence of humor and I am really in for it. Either which way, I love ALL my boys and am just a lucky M. for them.

Good luck. I wish for you that you have a healthy baby.

We weren't trying for a girl per se, but we did conceive our daughter pre-ovulation. I would have been happy either way; but I do love having a daughter and since she's our only child, I don't know anything different.

With our second I really wanted a girl and my husband preferred a boy. When we decided to start trying I was looking up positions that would give you better odds of having a girl, my husband thought it was ridiculous and often would say " I only make boys" because he's so manly or something it would be impossible for him to make a girl. So, to humor me when we were trying we only did the positions that are said to give you a better chance of having a girl, and I did get pregnant with a girl.
Sorry, I totally skipped the part where you said you are 5 weeks along, CONGRATS!!

We tried for a boy first and then a girl. Worked both times. :) And the "recipe" we used has worked for everyone I've sent it to.

After 4 years of trying to conceive, and finally getting pregnant with the help of a fertility specialist, we was so happy just to be pregnant we didn't care which it was.
We would've been just as happy with a girl but we had a boy and he's a wonderful child.

I wanted to give my 1st husband a boy. He grew up in a house full of women, no dad, just M., sister, aunts and gramma. Then me. He was an Eagle Scout and was really looking forward to having a jr to go camping and fishing with and do guy stuff. I tried to give him a boy. Our daughter is a wonder to behold, but she's all girl. She's 19 now, so, I doubt he'll ever get a boy, but honestly, he never complained, never said it was an issue. It was just something I wanted for him.

It is written somewhere that if the women orgasms the odds are higher for a boy. This worked for me. (2) Boys. Our girl was conceived when we were trying to get pregnant and not too worried about the act itself.

We did read the "how-to" on how to have a boy and loosely followed since we were hoping for a boy but didn't want to put all our eggs in one basket, per say. Anyway, we did get a boy. I know of 2 other women that did the "girl method" and ended up with girls. The girl way is much harder b/c it involves much more planning and a shorter window, but it worked for them!
