Do You Have Experience with Any Professional Resume Writing Companies?

I think what everyone is trying to say so far is: If you have that unique of a background, no professional is going to be able to sum it up as well as you can, with a little practice. When I apply for jobs, I create nearly a new resume every time--that emphasizes the skills that the job is looking for in conjunction with how they fit with me. It IS exhausting, intimidating, and overwhelming. But I draft and then use my friends and family as sounding boards. And I scour the net for samples and wordings (why reinvent the wheel?!)

Ask some educated friends to review it. Heck, PM me, I've helped all my friends write theirs.

A resume service is more for those who have never written one or only have the most basic positions.

No one can write your resume like you can. If you do not feel comfortable writing it yourself, contact:

Your local unemployment office
Your local community college

The unemployment office can help you find the write words just as a writing class at your local community college.

It would help to know what you do. As a recruiter/staffing manager - I often help candidates rework their resumes. I have never paid someone to do my resume, so I cannot recommend one.

If your job or specialty requires you to use words, then you need to do it yourself.

Go back over your work history for the last 5 to 10 years.
Pick out five of the best things you did or five important tasks you did at each position. Then bullet point each task.
Keep it simple. use words that you would use in your line of work. If you use an acronym - like BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) spell it out FIRST then use it after that. Don't assume that the person reading your resume will know it.

I agree with contacting your closest Workforce Center/unemployment office.

Or, I work as a Consultant for an Outplacement company. If you have one in your area, they will also refer you to individuals who write resumes. This is a better route to find resume help than online, as they should only refer you to people who do good work for a reasonable price.

Most professional resume writing places charge twice what the service is worth and don't take the time to really get to know you before they write it. You end up with a nicely formatted, but generic sounding resume.

Contact your local unemployment office. They have seminars on this for free. You can find free samples all over the internet. Someone told me to concentrate on companies you want to work for - not send out 200/week, but to really tailor your resume for 10-15 per week and send it to the correct person.
