Hah! I was in the same boat! So, I got creative! I grabbed a canvas that I had in the closet and painted it blue. Then I added clouds and painted a BIG tree trunk on it. Then I used some colored paints and had the kids put their hands in it and used their hand prints for leaves. Altogether my husband and i have 4 kids so it got covered fast. I know he'll love it because the kids got to get involved and it's "not another tie"! Good luck!

P.S. My youngest is 6 months old, I just had to keep his fingers out of his mouth :)

it's not expensive but i gave my husband a leatherman micra (it goes on his keychain) he loved it so much he wore it out and got another, and other guys are always remarking on what a good little tool it is. if you want you could give him a full size leatherman tool, and then the micra for his keychain to go with it!

one year i took a pic of my daughter who was just a little over a year at the time. she was walking around in my husbands dress shoes shortly after her bath so she only had her diaper on. it looked so cute. i enlarged it, printed in black in white and matted and framed it.
the following year i took my husband's ties and put them on the kids. (my daughter was 2 and my son was 3 months old) and took a pic and put an artsy border around it and printed it in a sepia tone onto iron on paper (you can get this at any craft store) and ironed it onto a vintage style tshirt for him. good luck!

Last year I took all my husband's Craft Mans tools that were worn down from constant use and had them replaced. This year I am going to pick up a set of wrenches that fit both metric and standard sizes. My husband works conventions and has to carry a bag of tools with him. This will cut the weight of that bag in half cause he won't have to bring as much. And he has more room in his tool shed. I don't know if your husband is as tool crazy as mine, but if he is he will love it!

Does he have any hobbies? Interests? that's a good place to start for ideas. My hubby likes hiking and tech gadgets & books...so that is usually what I get him.

Also, something from the kids that they "make" themselves...ie: a painting, hand prints etc. Photos, or you can put their photo on a t-shirt or coffee mug. You can do these things via Kodak at www.kodakgallery.com I've gotten lots of photo gifts from Kodak and it's great!

Yes, men are hard to buy gifts for.
This year, I got my hubby some accessories for hiking, and a "trophy" that says "I Love My Daddy" from a local dime store. Or, Hallmark stores also have great Dad gifts too.

Good luck
