I want to start giving my son more table food but not sure of what to give him. He has 4 teeth. My husband has him alone for dinner 3 nights a week so I need easy things that he can put together. I know they can eat everything that we eat but I need more ideas please.

What can I do next?

Hi J.,

I have a 13 month old with just five teeth (a sixth tooth is starting to make its appearance), and this is what I give my little guy: pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches, quesadillas, tacos (using flour tortillas cut up into small pieces), mac and cheese, yogurt, toast (with butter and sometimes cinnamon sugar on it), bagels and cream cheese, hummus, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, cucumber, pickles, green beans, peas, avocados, string cheese (actually, he'll eat cheese in any form), melon, clementines (big favorite right now), pears, peaches, bananas, mangos, papaya, and pineapple. I know there's more, but this gives you an idea. He's not too into meat right now, but occasionally he'll eat diced turkey and ham. He also loves strawberry snack bars, which are great for a quick fix if he's super hungry, and Gerber Lil Snackers. Also, my husband and I always give him a taste of what we are eating, even if he doesn't eat it. Good luck - this is a fun time!

I have a nephew that just turned 1 and at his birthday party, I was so surprised to see all that he ate!! He too only has 4 teeth with 2 coming in. His mom gave hime everything on the menu.....chicken, mashed potato, bread, pasta. The key is cutting it small. He was given a slice of bread and he ate his way through it at his own pace. If your nervous about pieces still and seeing as your may want to make it easy on your husband, you might want to stick to the mashed or softer foods on his nights. Boil veggies to super softness and mash with fork. You can put both veggies and chicken in the food processor and leave them chunky, so they are not smooth yet not to big for him to chew. Leave it in a tupperware all ready for your husband and he will be set to go. Good luck!

J.,
I have a almost 9 month old daughter and she will eat anything I Put in front of her. She only hs two teeth, but that does not stop her. She has made her way through all the Gerber Graduate Meals and she loves veggies of any kind. I have that if I get the canned veggies with no salt added they are soft and she has no trouble eating them, sometimes the resh or frozen veggies are a little tough. She does well with fruit as long as it is nice and ripe or canned. I have given her chicken nuggets, but other meats are still not soft enough for her. She loves pasta in any form, pancakes and waffles, yogurt and her all time favorite Cheerios. It is really a fun time to feed your baby. Be sure to have the camera reay, because some of the faces an messes they make are priceless!!

Hi J.,
I have an 8-month old who loves fish. I buy white fillet (such as flounder or basa), then I sear the fish with little oil (no salt) along with peas and carrots. Cover the pan, and let each side of fish to cook for 3-4 minutes until fish is flaky. After that you can just fork-mash the fish, peas and carrots when giving to your baby. My husband likes the exact same food (doesn't mind having no salt on them), but of course, not mashed kind.
hope this recipe help!
