Hi all....i was supposed to have my monthly cycle yesterday(12/21) and it never came. Well tonight i couldn't wait any longer and took another pregnancy test and had a faded postive. I'm going to take another in the morning to make sure. Anyway I'm worried because i had very very mild cramping that comes and go since last friday. As far as i remember with my other pregnacies i don't remember having cramping. I been cleaning out the litter pan and worried about toxoplasmosis.I wash my hands good aftrwards. I'm on my thyroid medicine 75mg once a day (which i know i have to take while being pregnant.) and i'm on lisinopril 10mg once a day(for high blood pressure). The lisinopril it says not to take while being pregnant. I told my dr back in august that we(husband and i) was thinking about having another baby and all he told me that if i got pregnant was to call up and they can switch my blood pressure medicine. I had a miscarriage before and worried about having another. Its to close to christmas and i'm gathering his office might be close tomorrow(well today) since its saturday. And doubt he'll be in monday since its christmas eve. I'm going to call his office tomorrow to see if anyone is there and guess go from there? I have all this fear that "if" i'm pregnant and fear that i'll hurt the baby or miscarriage from this mild cramping, toxoplasmosis, blood pressure medicine. I know i worried alot. :) I look online and saw that cramping is normal. I don't have no spotting whats so ever just the mild cramps that comes and go. So i guess thats good? I guess i need to relax. It will be a good christmas present if all goes good. :)

Thoughts? Merry christmas all!!! :)

You can stop worrying about toxoplasmosis.
1- It's rare.
2 - Cats get it from eating infected mice and birds, so unless your cat hunts, his/her chances of getting it are nil.
3 - People get it via ingestion. So unless you're putting your hands in your mouth or eating after cleaning the litter box without washing your hands first, even if your cat was infected your chances of getting it would still be vanishingly small.

I worked in an animal hospital the entire time I was pregnant, and the only thing that changed about my duties was that I was not allowed to lift Rottweilers and I was not allowed to shoot x-rays. I cleaned litter boxes both at work and at home every day that I was pregnant. I wore gloves and washed my hands with plain (not antibacterial) soap and water after.

I have no clue what your experience will be, but I had major cramps with my first born. They are called phantom cramps are are not usually something to be concerned with unless you are bleeding bright red or chunky. Perfectly healthy, full term baby boy! Merry Christmas!

I have never, ever heard of or known a single lady to get toxoplasmosis. I had two cats while pregnant both times. I think its super rare, so that should be the least of your worries. I'd worry more about the man made meds you are on... definitely ask about that. Have someone else from here on out scoop the litter box just because.

I think you could be turning "Worry" into an Olympic event!

You're right, you need to relax.
Most docs have an answering service and someone " on call" that can get back to you. Call! Then you can relax about the BP meds and make your husband clean the litter box .
Good luck!

I would be cool to fine out you are expecting on Christmas... what a great gift, eventhough you have to wait so long to "open" it :)

Call the doctors office - even if their is no one in, but most office do have someone there for a few hours on Saturdays so that people that work & can't make it in during the week can still get appointments, then the call should go to an after hours call center which knows how to get a hold of him. Someone has to always be able to get a hold of a doctor incase of an emergency.

As for the cramping - yes it can be normal... any changes to your body can cause some pain.

Oh, one last thing... the worst thing you can do is worry. Stress is so bad on the little one... so calm down, relaxe and enjoy the holidays! All will be ok no matter what!

Cramping: Normal . I've had 4 pregnancies, 1 of them , no cramping at all. My 3rd pregnancy , I was cramping so bad , I would lay in the fetal position every nite, crying.

Toxoplasmosis: Chances of getting it, are very slim .

BP meds: you're probably early enough that the embryo is still living off the yolk sac & not sharing your meds.

Relax & congrats!

I hope your news is good news. Call your doctor as soon as you can in the morning. Someone will be on call. You may not get to see your regular doctor but an associate will be on call throughout the holiday week.

Please let us know.

This is easier said then done but stay OFF the Internet. It will only cause you to worry more. Take care of yourself over the next few days. Stay positive and enjoy your Christmas.

Merry Christmas! Wishing you a new bundle of joy to celebrate with in 2013.

Congrats. Dont over worry. As the website said, Cramping is fine. Even spotting is not that bad. I would continue with your medications and if you are only mild HBP, I would discontinue until you hear otherwise. I did for my 3rd. If your doctor is unavailable call a hospital or Er about having it looked at. You will be fine! Good luck and Merry special Christmas.

If your doc told you to call when you're pregnant (and didn't suggest stopping while trying) it's possibly because the meds are safe for a little while, just not over an extended amount of time. I wouldn't worry about a miscarriage...it's only days in and you aren't even sure yet! Your stress is probably more harmful to your body than any of the other things you mentioned, at this point in time anyway. What's gonna happen will happen. Just relax over the holidays, call your doc when he's open IF you have a clear positive. If it's mean to be...it will be :)
