We recently found out that we're expecting #4! Neither of our parents are expecting the announcement and they're both out of state so we want to find a creative way to share the news. Anybody have a fun idea?

Fun! When I found out I was pregnant with my first I mailed my parents and in-laws a box. In the box was a series of presents along with a goofy/cute poem/riddle. I numbered each present so they'd know which to open. It was goofy and a lot of fun! The second time around was Easter so I mailed an Easter basket full of stuff. In the middle was a big egg with stuff in it along with a little rhyming saying.....anyway it was fun! Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!

We got round colorful blank invitations from Target. We had good copies made of the first ultrasound and glued them one side of the invitation. On the other side we printed:
Introducing:
Teya Manige Osowski
or
Jaric Adam Osowski
E.D.D 11/14/2007

We didn't find out what we were having so we included both girl and boy names! I was also 16 weeks preggo when I found out, so it made the ultrasound part easy. We sent that too all of the family out of state!

E.,

Put all your kids in plain white t-shirts and paint some sort of message on all their shirts a piece at a time. Ex: shirt #1: Baby #4 Shirt #2: Due Shirt #3: (due date) Take a pic and email it to daddy at work???? Or have them wearing them when he gets home.

Wish we were expecting! It would be so great!

send a letter and have the address label say "family name party of 6"

Then include a picture drawn by your children of your family with the new addition.

Share what you do!

Take a picture of your youngest wearing a big brother or sister tshirt and email it to them. My aunt made a crossword puzzle for my grandparents when she was pregnant with her first, all with key words and clues about babies and grandchildren. If you're good at writing, you could write a funny little poem about it and mail it to them in a card. Those are my suggestions, anyway. Hope you like them! Congratulations, by the way!

When we found our we were expecting our second, we sent a photo album of our first to grandma. The very last picture in the album was the ultrasound of our 2nd. It took grandma a minute to figure out what it was but then she loved it!

Hey E., I just thought of something I thought would be cute:
Buy or make your own little "brag book" to send through the mail, title "New Family Pictures". Fill the first 8 or so pages with pics of you and the other youngsters, then as a finale, a photo of the ultrasound of your new one (if you choose to have ultrasound) Surprise!!!
When we wanted to announce my pregnancy to our families, we wrote a little poem, that ended with something like...
"We know that life is busy and schedules can get wild,
but plan to visit in about x months and meet your new grandchild."

First off, Congrats!
When I found out I was expecting our first it was around Easter. He is the first grandchild for both mine and my husbands familys. All our family lives close by so we got together for an Easter dinner and I got little plastic easter eggs one for each person. I put one piece of candy and a little tag inside each one saying "Happy Easter Grandma" "Happy Easter Grandpa" I even made some up for my younger brothers saying "Happy Easter Uncle" It was alot of fun. They kept the easter eggs and tags as a keepsake.
Have fun with it! Its exciting news!

For our first my husband wanted to make a big surprise for his mom. We were in New York in the big toy store and he say one of those "Jeffery Giraffe". Apparently he had one that he loved as a child so we order and shipped the largest one hin the store with no note no nothing just who it was from. It took her just a few minutes to figure out the reason.

When I found out we were having our daughter, it was completely unexpected for EVERYONE, hubby and I included! I actually held it in for 2 weeks because I wanted to tell everyone in person, and since my husband and I were going to visit them on block leave for Christmas(we were both military) we thought it would be cool to give everyone an "early present". So I went out and bought some little baby things (pacifiers, onesies, bottles, etc.) and gift wrapped them on top of the doc's report that had my positive pregnancy test and the due date, then I made everyone open their gifts at the same time. I have a kind of large family, so it was a madhouse, but the reaction was priceless!

We certainly didn't pioneer this idea, but when DH and I found out we were expecting our first, we took photo frames to some family members. Inside each frame was a piece of nice paper with a stamp of baby footprints on it and it said, "We're expanding our home by two feet. Our addition should be complete in early January."

Congratulations to you & your family... what an exciting time!!

I used balloons, just like the ones they bring to the hospital, most florists can do that, you know something like congrats, and then the card can say your expecting another, D.

We just announced our prenancy to my parents, they have 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter... we sent 3 blue balloons, 1 pink balloon, and 1 white balloon, the balloons had the respective birthdates on them, and the white one had our prospective due date. We sent them with a boquet of baby's breath. Another idea we had is m&m's. You can go to their website and customize them. You could do blue and pink for the colors and them have them printed up with your due date and question marks. Only thing is you have to order about a minimum of $50 worth... good luck! Have fun!

When I found out we were pregnant with our third I got some shirts that said "I'm going to be a big sister again" for my oldest and one that said "I'm going to be a big brother" for my youngest. I had them wear the shirts over to my parents house and just waited until they noticed what they said. Since both families are out of state you could take pictures or video with the kids in their shirts and tell them you got some new shirts for the kids that you wanted to share with them. This is the site I got our shirts at: http://www.cookiebabyinc.com/
Have fun!!

My husbands parents live out of state also. So on one of children we sent them two bibs. One said "I love my grandma", and the other "Worlds greatest grandpa". They thought it was fun, and me baby had bibs to use a grandma's. I did not put a letter in with it. Just the bibs, but they figured it out real fast and called us.

I am thinking about your initial queation
but what first came to mind was telling your older children. Do they know? Well even if they do get the video camer and ask them how they feel about the new coming baby? Ask each seperatly when they are not expecting you to ask and them you could send this video to the grandparents. But i have four kids now and wish i would have done this. But one thing that i did do was when the kids came to the hospital to see me i let them unwrap the babys diaper so they could see the gender. They liked that alot congrats and good luck
