Fundraising Success

We didn't do the jordan essentials but our Church's AWANA's group did Mary-Kay lotions one year. We just had a choice of a few of them for hands and feet. That went over pretty good, most mom's and grandma's are happier to buy a thing of good hand cream than they are a thing of candy. The lotions were much easier to sell than junk. We did the lotions at before Christmas and they were between $10 & $15 (I think a couple were also about $8). But since the price was right they make great gifts for teachers and stocking stuffers so they almost sold themselves. Good luck!

There is a great & easy way to raise money for schools, churches, etc. It's not available until Sept 27th. It's a brand new home page that's expected to be as big as FaceBook. Check out www.glscrip.com. Your school buys gift cards to major retailers at a discount, then sells them at face value. The school keeps the difference. Never have to buy anything you don't want/need, and you don't even have to do door-to-door sales. You can also run this all year. This is AWESOME at Christmas!

I've had great success with a company that offers lovely personal care products and other products targeting hunger in our communities. Prices range from 11.50 and up. The products make great gifts for all family and friends. The hunger product is wonderful for community projects.

check with your local McDonalds. Some of them offer fundraiser nights for schools. They give a portion of all the sales between the hours of 4-8:00 on a night during the week. I know our local McDonalds does this and our school does it a few times a year.

as far as selling stuff. I prefer to buy Home Interiors candles. They have a fundraiser flyer for candles and candle accessories. They burn better than most candles and burn a long time. They are usually cheaper than most fundraisers. Most people don't mind buying one or 2 of the candles. You can probably find a consultant on the home interiors website. I don't know why more schools don't sell these. We did them in one school out of all the different schools my kids went to and they did very well. They are easy to sell because there isn't a whole book for people to search through to find something they want. A lot of people would buy 2-4 of the smaller candle in a jar sizes.

Most of these other fundraisers my kids bring home, we don't even try to sell. They are expensive and have a bunch of junk most people won't use. Wrapping paper is only 1.00 a roll at a lot of stores so why would anyone pay that high price for it in those books. The cards aren't that great of quality or have cheesy sayings in them so people don't buy those well either. I didn't like the cookie dough because of the freezer problem and when I went to the school to pick up the order I wasn't happy because they were half thawed already and delivered them right away to the customers because I will not refreeze frozen food once it starts to thaw out so didn't feel they were getting the quality they thought they were getting. I wonder how many parents actually re-froze them before they were delivered so I will not order any foods that have to be refrigerated or frozen in a fundraiser ever again after that experience. I also didn't like the cheese we bought one time. I think it was rotten when we got it because it tasted strange and ended up throwing it away and that was expensive trash. You don't know how people will handle food once it leaves the fundraiser so I would stay away from anything that has to be refrigerated or frozen. Same way with pre-made pizzas.

There are several restaurants that give 15-20 percent of their profits for a fundraiser. I think these are the best fundraisers and are usually the ones that we actually do. Papa Johns Pizza, Pizza Hut, Cici's, A&W, McDonald's, Applebees does a 5.00 pancake breakfast fundraiser, and there are probably some others that do fundraiser opportunities as well. They are so much easier because you don't have a lot of stuff to sort through and give merchandise out to the kids when the orders come in. All you have to do is pass out flyers and the parents bring the flyers to the restaurant or fill out the coupon for some of them and the restaurant does the rest.

Our school just did a Jog A Thon with all the children all they had to do was get cash donations this will be the only fundraiser they bring home besides the Entertainbook. Everyone has the same fundraisers and half the time they buy things they really don't want but buy them to help out the children so this way they can just give a check or cash and be done. I can find out more info if you like on how to organize something like this. We also do a Holiday Bazaar which a low booth cost and a small % of the sales goes back to the school. Good Luck

In elementary school my daughter has a read-a-thon. The children read and/or are read to for 120 minutes during school and they collect pledges per minute. The school PSTA ask each family to either donate or collect $20 and it is an easy fundraiser. I enjoy that much more than taking orders and delivering any product.

You have some great ideas but I would like to throw another one out there! A cell phone service created especially with kids in mind. This may work a little better with middle school age kids but the reality is kids who carry phones are getting younger and younger.
