Hi P.,
My husband and I have used natural family planning to avoid and achieve pregnancy. We used it for 2 1/2 years to avoid and then have achieved pregnancy 3 times. We plan when we want our kids to be born to the exact month. People think we're crazy when we called when my son would be born years ahead of time, but it worked. You can find info at www.creigtonmodel.com. You have to take classes to learn when your body can get pregnant. But, after one class you will know enough basics to get pregnant. You do have to wait for those few days a month when you can get pregnant, but you should have plenty of time before your husband leaves. Good luck.

Go get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Dr. Toni Weschler. (www.tcoyf.com) I was able to get pregnant this way 6 times and able to avoid pregnancy when I wanted to. Unfortunately, I was not able to carry any of those pregnancies because I have other issues and had to go to a fertility specialist to have my daughter. Since you are able to have children, this book and method should work for you. If you don't get pregnant, it may not be your issue. You may need to have your husband's sperm count evaluated.

I know you don't have a lot of time with him going back in Feb so the 1 year rule prior to seeing a specialist is a mute point. Good luck dear!

It's not always as easy as you might think when you are trying at least. I used the resources at ivillage to know the best times to conceive using natural family planning. Here is a link http://parenting.ivillage.com/ttc/ttcsigns/0,,43j1-2,00.html

If your cycles aren't regular to where you know when you're ovulating, try this technique....
10 days after you start your period, have sex every day for 10 days in a row. It worked for some friends of mine and everyone was really happy! Good luck!

The same thing with me I got off the pill and we tried, NOTHING, but I realized I was triing instead of just relaxing, I think when we try we do that too hard, take a romatic weekend with your prince and don't think about it and it will happen, it did with me and I did not realize I was with child until I noticed my period did not come on

Hi P.!
We didn't plan getting pregnant with my son who is almost 8 years old. Now I'm 10 weeks pregnant and again this pregnancy wasn't really planned either. I wasn't on birth control but we weren't paying attention to conception dates or anything. For about 4 months, I was really looking at my ovulation dates and trying to plan conception during the right time of the month and every month I was disappointed because I wasn't pregnant. Finally, I decided I was going to give it to God and let Him decide what was best for my family and I so I quit calculating and focused on other stuff in my life. Well... what do you know... 2 months later... I was pregnant and the only reason I took a pregnancy test was because the doctor was putting me on medicine I shouldn't be on if I was pregnant. So... my advice to you is to try not to focus too much on getting pregnant. You may be stressing yourself out and you don't want to do that! It will happen when your body is ready! Good luck!

P.,
I was sorry to hear that you started. I know that frustration because my DH and I are trying to get pregnant also. We miscarried in August and I thought surely we would be pregnant again by now but it hasn't happened. I am thinking I may be now but it's only been 20 days since my last period so of course a test will come back negative and have. If you come up with any tips to "speed the process up" let me know. :) Take care.

Try getting the ovulation predictor kits the best one is called Clearblue easy read, you can buy it at Walmart for about 16 dollars. It is all about timing and this will tell you the best days to concieve according to your cycle. It worked for me and only took a couple of months. I have also heard of other people who have tried for several months and used the kits with success and got pregant within a short time. Good Luck!

Hi. All of my pregnancies were planned and we used an Ovulation Test each time to see which 36 hours I could get pregnant. There are only 36 hours a month that you can get pregnant (when you are ovulating).

The last time I was trying to get pregnant and having trouble, my OB/GYN told me to have sex every other day, no more no less. I don't know if that's scientifically correct, but it worked for me, and my husband was happy to cooperate. Good luck.

I don't know you age but you may want ot have your throid checked and your insulin levels. I have problems with both and I know that they can be a hidden culprit. However, in most cases you are probably trying to hard. My best friend is very CATHOLIC and has always praticed the ways of the church. She has been married 17 years and had 5 planned pregnancies and 0 unplanned pregnancies. I can give you a hint or two of what she told me to watch for with my body. She told me and I got pregnant each time by following what she had shared with me. I did have two miscarriages- probably related to the thyroid/insulin issues. I do know that she actually attnded some meeting through the church that teaches you the entire method. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

I totally agree with the comment from Jodi D about the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." You will learn to read the signs that your body naturally gives you when you are fertile. I highly recommend this book. I got pregnant on the first try! Good luck!

To tell you the truth, me and my husband tried and tried, we bought all those ovulation tests and did every "crazy" thing and sex position everyone told us to do that "would for sure work", and never anything it was so upsetting that i just gave up, threw everything in the trash. When i gave up we ended up preg. within a month. Only thing i can say is to give up and completely put it out of your mind. But then that is my "crazy" thing!! LOL I know its hard to do, but that is what worked with both my boys. Best of Luck!!
