Moms. I am invited to baby shower. This is my 1st baby shower, after all it is American culture here. So, what should I give? Honestly, I never have baby shower for my son. And when my son was born, people donate money because they know we will need it for surgery. And I didn't buy anything because my sister gave me all outfits. I usually gave the baby in Indo : Johnson baby bath package, it is common. Or money.
Is it okay to give money? How much? If gift, how much to be considered polite here? Thanks

Update:
Btw, do we have to bring another gift when we visit the baby? Or this baby shower gift is enough?

What can I do next?

Most folks here register for gifts at Babies r Us or Target stores etc. So see if you can find out where. THen you can just buy them something the are looking for... how much you spend is up to you. How close are you to the Mom? The closer the relationship the more I spend.. maybe $20 for an acquaintance, $50 (or more if I have it) for family and real friends...

A diaper tote (not a diaper bag, it's an open tote with a handle and side pockets for around the house) filled with diapering supplies. Mom can refill it once everything is used, it can be taken anywhere in the house, and they last for years. My guy is 3 and I still use his to toss a change of clothes, antibacterial wipes and a juice box in when we go out.

Gift cards are always nice, too, mom can get what she needs. Overall I spend $25 to $50 depending on how close I am to the mom.

Instead of giving cash, you could give a gift card to Babies 'R Us, Target or Wal-Mart, as that can be used for diapers or other items that will be needed. One item that I loved (even with a toddler) is mirror that attaches to the rearview mirror or visor to be able to see the baby in the back seat. Great invention and quite useful. You may also want to check at Babies R Us or Target to see if the mom has a baby registry on file where it shows some of the items that she would like to receive. That might make it easier to shop for her.

I would definetly get gift certificate so she can buy whatever she needs that she doesn't get at shower. I would give $50.00 depending on how close you are to this person. Or i would get a storage bin, put all the necessities in it diapers, wipes, onsies, diaper creams etc and put a basket together yourself.. Personally, money or gift certificate the best way to go.. yes bring another gift when you visit baby but, don't go nuts.
Bring a little outfit like onsies and blanket or things for the mom.. like coffee or food
