Good Toys for a 9 Month Old

If it's educational toys you want, you'll find some great ones. Click on Toys and you'll find The "Happy Child" Circle Time. This one is fun. Plus, Try Angle is pretty good and easily portable, so are the boomerings. This always kept my kids busy. If you want some great books, there's the "Shiny Touchy Smelly". I try to make sure I invest in good books for my kids and I love these. For the electronic type stuff, Leap Frog is fun.

The BEST toy I ever bought my son was the Fisher Price Laugh and Learning Home. This is the one toy he has played consistently with since I got it when he was about 9 months till now (he's 28 months!) When we have playdates at my house, this is the one toy every kid flocks too. There is so much to do on it. It really helped him pull up and stand when he was younger. Now, he loves crawling through the door and he's using his imagination with the little mailbox and all. This has been so worth the money!!!

I could write a book on a bunch of toys that were NOT worth the money...but that's another post!

I thought I would let you know that a big favorite around our house for years is the little people sets. At first (around your daughters age) the animals etc are just the right size for holding and sucking on usually. But as they grow the toys do too. And, they are perfect for stashing in your purse or diaper bag. My 3 and 6 yr old still play with them (as well as lots of day care kids) I think the newer ones that have the touch and feel parts are super cute. I would suggest the alphabet zoo, mostly because it has lots of animals which are prefered to the characters. Have fun with your little girl, they are tons of fun

One of the best toys that we bought at around that age was a Leap Pad Learning Table. It has lots of things to manipulate with lights & sounds for that age, and when they're older, teaches them things like open/closed, up/down, colors, etc. My little girl played with this toy from 9 months until she was about 2-2 1/2. But, every child is different, and their tastes change frequently. Good luck and hope this helps!

I also recommend he Leap Pad Learning table. It is still my daughters fav toy and she is 12 months old. I also recommend taking her to the store and letting her pick one out. My daughter really enjoyed picking toys out, just give her options and she will pick what she wants. The good thing too is you know they will enjoy it. I have done this with my daughter for about 3 months now. I just make sure and give her options so I know if she really wants the toy. It's also great to see their reactions and comparsions with the toys. Have fun!

I second the Fisher Price Little People line. That has been a favorite around this house. FOr the smaller kids anything cause and effect seems to be a hit- drop a ball= make a noise. Personally I tend to pick toys that my kids have to make do things instead of the toys doing all of the stuff. In my opinion that encourages their imagination.
The board book by DK with the touch and feel pages are awesome.
I shop Ross, Half Price Books and the thrift store to find great bargains on books and toys.
Another resource is Amazon- even if I don't order from there I find the reviews of toys VERY helpful!

I second the recommendations for the Leap Pad Learning Table and the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Learning Home. My daughter (now 16 mos) has had both of these since she was 7 mos old and these have been her favorites by far. She still plays with them almost daily. Money well spent!
