Looking for recommendations for a good gym/fitness center in or near Naperville. Best choice would have extended childcare hours, especially in the afternoon, as well as Pilates classes and cardio machines. We're moving to central Naperville next month. Thanks!

So What Happened?

I joined Lifetime Fitness last summer, and am equi-distant to both the Warrenville and Romeoville locations. While I like it -- and my daughter loves the daycare -- I barely used it in the winter because I'm too lazy to drive 15 minutes to the gym in bad weather. I recently visited the Naperville Edward Fitness Center (off of Washington, north of 75th St.) which is about 5 minutes away, and liked its looks. However, the daycare was not as suited to older kids (daughter is 4 1/2), and the 7 Bridges/Woodridge location, which is more big-kid friendly, is 15 minutes away, so same dilemma.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for their input. It was all very helpful!

My husband and I are members at Edwards health & fitness. We are expecting in May and will be using the childcare that is provided. They have many classes throughout the day. Tip and Yoga class with Mirinda or Donna is the BEST!!!! Good luck...

Lifetime Fitness is a good place for families. They have plenty of machines and there is a pilates class. There is also a pilates reformer class for a fee.

Edward Health and Fitness offers great classes for both you and your daughter. You can work out while she is in great hands in their awesome children's facility. There is a location on Rt. 53 in Woodridge and while I know there is one in Naperville I am not sure where it is. Check the website...the one in Woodridge even offers Spa services at a discount for members. Good Luck

Hi A.,

I don't know where you're moving from, but Lifetime Fitness is a great gym with a lot more to offer. There's one in Warrenville and one in Romeoville (I don't know which would be closer to you. It's a little pricier ($95/mo for family), but the childcare is free and you get 2 hours of childcare a day. They have a lot of Pilates classes and even the Reformer machines. There's an indoor and outdoor pool with slides and even a salon (which you can use the childcare for as well). I moved to Bolingbrook 4 months ago and go to the Romeoville lifetime and absolutely love it! You can get phone numbers on their website lifetimefitness.com.

Hope that helps,

M.

Edward Fitness Center at Seven Bridges is awesome. It is affiliated with the hospital and it is a newer and top notch facitiy. For kids over 3 years old they have a large jungle gym (like at the biger McDonalds) right in the area where they watch the kids.

Just to add to what Mandy said, Lifetime Fitness doesn't require reservations for children over the age of 12 months...you can just drop them off with no notice necessary. We go to the club in Burr Ridge and my son (17 months) really enjoys it.

I would like to suggest trying out Edward Health and Fitness Center, 6600 Rte 53, Woodridge Il. 60517 ###-###-####

The kids adventure center is open Mon-Fri 8am-8pm and weekends 8am-2pm. The children's pool is open 7 days a week. They have a baby/toddler room for the younger ones as well. My children practically grew up in the daycare.

This health club has one of the best yoga, pilates and fitness programs in the area. With Pre and post natal classes as well. You will love it! Best of Luck, P.
