Hi, when I was a child all the way up until about age 13 when I started dying my hair I was blonde and for yrs I have been dying it bright blonde to inhance my color but now I'm just letting my roots and natural color grow out but it's darker than what it used to be. For the short time I was in sanfrancisco my hair got bright blonde without me doing anything but stays dark here. As it's growing out more it's lightening up but is there any kind of shampoo or product that I could use that would brighten it up?

What can I do next?

Hi C.! I also used to have very blonde hair, but mine has darkened as I grew older, my color also changed dramatically while I was pregnant and has stayed much darker than it used to be. One trick I have used, as an alternative to dying it, is to mix some lemon juice with water in a spray bottle. Whenever I'm outside in the sun for a few hours, I have sprayed it on and combed it through my hair. It does work great, it enhances the blonde. The best time for me is when I get the few precious hours to lay out by a pool.......not often, but I love it when I do!
That said, I am going to the salon in 2 days to become a redhead for the summer!! :o)

Hi C.,
There are a few new products out there that will help keep your color longer, as well as help give it a "boost" between coloring. Clairol Color Boosting Glaze and John Frieda's Luminous Color Glaze are weekly or bi-weekly treatments that will help give your color a brighter look. Pantene Pro-V Blond Expressions Shampoo and Conditioner will help to maintain color longer and keep it bright and shiny. All of them are available at Walmart and all for under $15 a piece. Hope this helps.

SUN IN!!! I used to use that, and nothing helped more.I would spray it on wet hair, then sit in the sun till it dried, and that was all I had to do.

well the reason its gotten darker is because your hair is not getting natural exposure to sun and especially after kids, our hair tends to change. My mom used to be a dirty blonde and after she had her son she went bernett.
Anyway, try some lemon juice, we used to use hat when we were kids and then we'd lay out in the sun and our hair would be lighter. Good luck :)
