This is just an idea I thought I'd share this pre-Halloween. I always have left over lolly pops and hard candy , why not make into a new treat? Heres what I do , take a roll of pre-made sugar cookie dough slice into rounds place on parchment paper lined cookie sheets lay lolly pops down in the centers bake at 350 7-12 min. Or cut a pumpkin face out of the slices crush cinnamon or butterscotch candys and put into the cut out holes bake and you have a glowing pumpkin face. Happy Halloween everyone!!!!!

I take my children's leftover candy to work....not kidding its gone within 1-2 days.
...and sugar begets more sugar. Here's what I do with leftover Halloween candy- throw it in the trash when no one is looking. Ba humbug!
Jane and SH? Throw it away? That's a bad lesson to teach kids! Why not give it away? Such a waste. Keep your children home next year.
Since no one comes trick-or-treating out in the country we don't buy the candy.
When our son brought home tons of it from parties at school we sorted through it, he kept what he liked and the rest went into work with my husband to give to co-workers.

We put it up a good portion of it and regift it in their Christmas stockings. Not the candy with jack-o-lanterns on it, but lollipops and non-Halloween type candy. They get so much they don't even know the difference.
Halloween begins what I call the "candy season". Halloween- then Christmas- then Valentine's Day- then Easter. We use the leftover Christmas and Valentine candy at Easter. After Easter, we throw it all away. :)

Our boys' school collects leftover/donated halloween candy and then they ship it to the soldier's :)

The only candy I purchase is the large candy bars sold in bulk at Costco. The majority of my treats are something I can store for the following year if I have leftovers. I have a lot of bouncing glow balls, glow necklaces, glow bracelets, tattoos, pencils, erasers, notepads, etc.
I have a minimum of 200 kids stop by my house and I never have candy leftover!
Instead of throwing the candy out, check to see if your local dentists have a buy-back program. Some pay cash per pound, give non-food treats, etc. candy is then often donated to be shipped to overseas troops.

Last night we took out candy for each kid to keep and the rest went into the candy bucket and we put it out on the porch. I'm assuming the kids who were out late trick or treating took it because the bucket was empty this morning (or we have some well fed raccoons lurking about LOL). My kids are still little though so I'm sure we only have one or two more years we can do this!
We throw it away.
Or it goes to work with my Husband.
My kids never eat everything anyway.
Too much candy, they even get tired of it.
