Halo Snuza--Alert System When Baby Stops Breathing

Has anyone used the Halo Snuza. I saw a report on the show The Doctors yesterday about how it saved a baby's life when the baby stopped breathing, it alerted the parents. Then last night on Law & Order: SVU, the baby died of SIDS. I guess with it fresh in my mind, I'm wondering if it's worth it. I think it's worth the $100 a piece (I would need 2), but they also make mats that go under the babies, but I don't know if they are as effective? I've read some online reviews, but only saw about 2 or 3 reviews, so I was hoping to get more. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I have the Babysense alarm - my daughter was a preemie & had breathing issues - so the alarm is what helped me sleep better! Was worth EVERY penny!

It is only worth it if there is a reason your child is at risk for SIDS. Ask your doctor. No, despite what you read all children are not at risk for SIDS.

We had Angel care for our second child and Snuza Go for our third.......i liked Snuza Go MUCH BETTER . We used it for 13 months. And had 2 times when alarm went off, our daughter was in such deep sleep we had hard time waking her up. Yep it was $100 but sooooo worth it for us.

I had with both my kids Angelcare and I would not have had it any other way because I was really scared of the possibility of SIDS and it was expensive but totally worth it.

I don't know about the brand you asked about but I do have the Babysense V. It definitely gave me peace of mind. When my son was sick I felt he was safer in his crib than next to me. I was nervous I might be in a deep sleep whereas in his crib if he stopped breathing or there was no pulse for 6 sec then the alarm would sound. It comes standard with two pads so you don't need to spend any more money and it is battery operated so you don't have to worry about power outage. I am not sure about the new angelcare system but my friend had one and you can use it as a monitor when baby is sleeping to hear them but i found it really annoying as it beeps constantly whereas the Babysense is fixed on a wall in baby's room and the alarm sounds off from that unit so it is not mobile and it is totally silent unless the alarm goes off. It sells for about $125 but you can always use a 20% coupon of find it cheaper online.

I love my Angelcare monitor for the peace of mind it gives me. Plus it's a great sound monitor when you want to stop using the sensor pad.

We never used anything like this, but my sister in law loves her angel care monitoring system (the mat that goes underneath). Good luck making your decision.

I use the Angel Care Monitor and LOVE it! It has the pad that goes under the mattress and if it doesn't detect any movement (breathing) for 15 seconds the alarm beeps once then after 5 more seconds if there isn't movement yet, the alarm goes off. It beeps from the unit in the babys room and the reciever.
Someone mentioned that it's annoying 'cause it clicks for every movement detected but you have the option to turn the clicking sound off. I keep it on because I like to hear it but either way it is still monitoring their breathing.
I am SO thankful for them! About a year ago, I laid down with my newborn (she was in the bassinet next to my bed, WITH the angelcare) and woke up to a text that my friends son was being rushed to the hospital by ambulance 'cause when they went to get him from his nap he wasn't breathing and barely had a pulse. He died before they got there. I held my baby and bawled! I just kept thinking that if she had just had the monitor, the baby would still be here. :'(
I hope you find one that you like and YES it's worth the money!

i was terrified that i would lose my son over sids. so i got a used angelcare (under mattress) cheap and it was wonderful!!! it was so worth it (i paid like $25 for it). it even told me the temp in the room so i'd know if it was too hot or not.
