I know you can have a natural birth after a C section, But is it harder?

Does it hurt your stomach really terrible?

What can I do next?

If you are interested in a vbac and wish to speak to midwives who have attended women who successfully did this, please contact me. I am a doula and have supported women in having great experiences. Midwives will take their time with you and are very skilled in this area. You can do this!

I'm guessing you are asking about your incision site and pain there and the answer is no. VBAC is so much easier to bounce back from! Don't think about VBAC as a "procedure"--all it is is vaginal birth. Were you super freaked out about pain the first time, before the C-section? It's really no different. :-)
I had my VBAC breech at home and it rocked!
Good luck, you'll do great!

I had a C-Section in 2008 with our 1st child. I just had a successful VBAC a month ago. I got to the hospital and was already 10cm so it was too late for an epidural. The contractions were painful but I survived and it's kind of cool to be able to say you did it without any pain meds. I would do one thing differently. The doctor asked me if I wanted an episiotomy. I said yes because she said the baby would come out with one more push which she did. I should have been better read on the procedure. If I could, I would NOT have had them cut me. It ended up turning into a 3rd degree tear which is all the way back to your butt. It has caused borderline incontinence issues and that is the hardest part about the delivery. There is a lot of info out there saying it is better or worse if you get cut. I would take my chances with a natural tear if I could take it back. Good luck!

dont know anything about childbirth after a c section, but i can tell you from my own personal experience that natural childbirth with no drugs AT ALL.
yes, we are counting before, during and after childbirth; is actually alot easier than your doctor ( who after all, gets a BIG BONUS from the drug company)will ever tell you. i took no drugs at all, and i was up and walking around my hospital room, just four hours after our baby was born in our apartment bathroom.i also checked myself out of the hospital just thirty some hours after getting up out of bed the first time.there were several other women who came in the same time i did, gave birth, took the drugs that were offered, and had barely made it out of bed by the time i was ready to leave.what was the difference, they took drugs, and i didnt

A c-section is just a little scar at the bikini line-I doubt it would hurt if you were having a normal childbirth-but then I haven't had one. I can't imagine a pain more crushing that labor-oh-except the time my colon ruptured. My daughter got an epidural and didn't feel a thing-I could have kicked myself having gone through 6 natural childbirths.

VBAC- Vaginal Birth After Caesarian is becoming more and more common, but you have to make sure that your doctor is willing to do it. Some don't like to, even though it's really very safe. Natural birth is giving birth without any drugs at all, so you have to be careful to use the right terms when you ask.

I had a VBAC with my youngest daughter after a C-section with my twins, and it was such a fantastic experience! I did have an epidural, but it wears off quickly after you give birth so I was up and walking less than an hour after she was born, and in the meantime I was able to sit up in bed, nurse her, watch her get her first bath, etc. It was a busy time! The recovery was so much easier than from the C-section. I went home in just a little over 24 hours and felt totally back to normal in a little less than 2 weeks.

A couple of things about the VBAC- for one thing, whether you can do it depends partly on why you had the C-section with your first. If the doctor expects the same complications that caused you to have it the first time, then it's likely you won't be able to do VBAC. Also, because there is a very small risk of rupture at the old incision site, they don't do anything to speed up labor such as give you pitocin or manually break your water (if it doesn't happen on it's own, which is fairly common.) So, it can make for a VERY long labor. Like I said, I had the epidural so I was comfortable, but everyone was wondering if the baby was ever going to come out!

VBAC is definitely worth doing and so much easier and less painful than C-section, but just discuss it with your doc and make sure it's right for you.
Good luck!
