I am wondering what other moms' experience has been with using hcg injections for weight loss.

What can I do next?

Hi - I did this diet in October and lost 15 lbs. the advice to just eat 500 calories is irresponsible. Without other means, 500 calories is dangerous for your health. I have thyroid problems and hormone problems and was not able to lose weight otherwise. 500 calories is the minimum you should do - I stayed at about 750 calories and lost 15 lbs and have kept it off through Thanksgiving and through Christmas. My eating before the diet not out of control, and i've gone back to my standard eating after the diet and have maintained the loss. I only did the 21 day injections, then 21 days of increasing my food intake again.

People who are able to lose weight the "normal" ways don't understand, and when I posted the question I got alot of comments about how I needed to eat right, exercise more, work for it.

I am not sorry that I did the Hcg, and I'm glad i did it through my dr. The first round was through a clinic, but the 2nd will be with the Rx written by my dr but without the counseling. If you have food issues, learning how to eat right is crucial.

Message me if you have any questions about my experience. It WAS hard for me to keep up with the protein part of the diet, and I did get tired of chicken, but I *did* lose when I had not beein able to. I'm looking forward to round 2.

Hi C.,
As a fitness professional, I am a firm believer in a good quality weight loss program and exercise. Calories in, calories out that is really the only way to do it for ever. Sometimes you can do it on your own or sometimes you need a program such as high quality whey or soy protein shakes, plenty of fruits and vegetables and a healthy low carbohydrate, high protein dinner. I can help you with a plan if you would like.
Good Luck and be careful.

I love it! I lost 20 lbs (averaged 1/2 lb. a day), 15 1/2 inches, and am now on Phase 3 for 3 weeks. I've been amazed at how the fat has just disappeared with no skin sagging. I've got another 20 to go, so when this rest period is over, I'll be on it again. The recipes are delicious, and really not too far from the way I normally eat. I just didn't realize how much snacking I really was doing. I did have some very difficult days, but my commitment was to myself, so I got past it.

You might want to go to the Arizona moms like me website, they have a private group of ladies who have done or are on the HCG diet. I tried it, but I only wanted to lose 10 lbs. and hoped it would target a specific area... and it didn't and I was starving - but other ladies have lost 30-50 lbs. and weren't hungry and love the diet! I only did it for 9 days and lost 7 lbs. but I was hungry - I guess the more fat you have stored, the less hungry you are. You can go through a doctor and pay $$$$$ or you can actually order all of the supplies online (I did) and do it yourself. It is really an interesting way to realize what you should/shouldn't eat. If you haven't already, Google "pounds and inches" and read Dr. Simmeions (sp) manuscript, if you think you can do it (500 calories a day) then go for it!

Hi C.,

I don't personaly know but my mother, sister, sister-in-law and close friend are all using hcg. My mother has lost 50 pounds and looks and feels great! She's now at her desired weight. Both sisters just started and are having a harder time with the strict diet. Our close friend weighed close to 400lb's and so far has lost over 100lb's. The diet is very limiting and strict. You have to have good will power and a desire to change your eating habits. Good Luck!

I know my mother would love to talk to you about it and tell you about her experience. If you like, you can email her at ____@____.com

Hi C.,

I've never done it; but have a lot of people ask me about it because I'm a Health & Nutrition Counselor. I don't advocate the diet because 1) going on a low calorie diet required by the program is very unhealthy and can cause short and long-term health issues, 2) losing weight as quickly as the program advertises is not health for the body and 3) the HCG program does not offer a long-term lifestyle change; therefore, most people end up gaining the wight back. I could provide more reasons NOT to do it; but those are the top three.

I prefer to educated people about food and lifestyle choices and slowly migrate them over to a better way of life. Food should be enjoyable! It's all about finding better choices that still taste great and not "depriving" yourself as so many diets do.

Best of luck to you in whatever you decide.

Hi C., I did this about 20 years ago. I agree with Paula, the diet is very strict. I remember only getting like 500 calories per day! I say, save your money, eat 500 calories per day, and you will lose the weight! Really...you need to learn to change your eating habits and exercise more. Good luck whatever you decide to do!
