I'm in the process of getting health insurance for 1 yr old; but as luck would have it he has a cough that seems to be getting worse. Can I take him to the health dept even though I don't have health insurance for him? If I can't take him there where should I go?

What can I do next?

You don't need health insurance. Call a doctor, let them know you are not insured and would like to set up a payment plan. I know MANY doctors will work with you.

You don't need health insurance to go to a doctor. You just need to make payment arrangements with the doctors office/health care facility.

At age 1, your child should have a doctor and should have been seen for regular check ups. Call your doctor's office and see what they recommend.

You can also call the City's health dept and ask for their recommendation.

Yes, you can be seen by a doctor even if you don't have health insurance. They can help you get insurance and if you qualify for state insurance, they should have forms available there. Hope your little one feels better.

You can go to any Dr. and pay the cash price until you are fully insured.
