Health Insurance Companies, GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently decided to stop teaching and got my Cobra packet in the mail this week. Our insurance, for a family of 4, is going to be $855 per month! I made the mistake of doing one search on the internet and woke up to nearly 75 emails and non-stop phone calls the very next day. We are absolutely inundated with "information" from companies I've never even heard of. I need a good, reliable, low cost health insurance company that has a simple plan, that a blonde drummer can figure out. Who are some of the companies ya'll use and how happy are you with them?
Thanks Mommas!
E.

Hello E.!
I know how frustating it can be! My husband's work is not offering insurance at the moment so i had to shop around for coverage my two year old... He first had Unicare I got from the internet and it was cheap but not worth it at all... Then I got Aetna with an agent and I am very happy with it. I pay 89 a month for him.
One of my friends helped me a lot though. She works with an insurance agent and can tell you about some of the best deals out there without trying to get money from you...

Hi E.,

You should definitely call Sara Edwards with United American Ins. She can offer a couple different types of plans that are affordable for you. She specializes in working with people who do not have work coverage/or are self employed. She is so incredibly nice too!!! She has helped several of my friends in the same situation as you. Her number is ###-###-####.

Have a great day!

While I don't have any advice of what company to use, I would offer a word of caution..... read the fine print. Be careful about what you think you're getting. This is definitely a situation where you can be easily scammed.... and it'll be too late once you find out.

We work with Mr. Butler and he can speak on behalf of many companies. I find this good instead of working with a specific person or one company that is only familiar with those specific offerings:

When my husband lost his job last year we used World insurance. It was wonderful and only $400 a month for our whole family of 5. I would look onlin for them.
You can call me if you have any questions.

E.,
I stopped teaching when I had my first child 3 years ago. The two insurance companies that we were deciding between were unicare (www.unicare.com - click on Plan and Apply Online on the top right side of the screen) and Blue Cross Blue Sheild of Texas (www.bcbstx.com - click on Compare plans, get prices... in the middle of the screen). We decided to use Blue Cross Blue Sheild and are very happy with it. I currently insure me, my daughter, and my new son with our plan and it is very reasonably priced. I also have a girlfriend who stopped teaching at the same time and she decided to use Unicare to insure her whole family (husband, herself, and two daughters) and she is very happy with their coverage.
Hope this helps and good luck with your search.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
D. H
