How do I deal !!!!!!
She had a sinus infection, heard the dr say a side affect of the steriod..... ALL DAY LONG , constant complaining and over reacting of what the meds are doing so I finally called and they said she is fine to not take the steriod and just stick with the antib. Well now all night long she has figured that antib could cause some stomach being uncomforatable, and yet we take it with food and now she is complaining of cronic stomach pain, gurggling, upset feeling. Avoiding to go back to school. She has no fever, her sinus infection is gone....she cont. to complain, so told her we are going to another dr. today to look at her stomach, complete histaracle..... Do any of you moms have one of these ?????? What do I do ? Just ask to disregard all meds so she has nothing to complain about ? 9 yrs old

What can I do next?

If she likes chocolate - have her eat some of that when she takes AB - this was a hint from a pharmacist to me to help tummy issues from some meds (he said he always did that with any meds to prevent!)

She wants attention. Just give it to her. Just swoop her up and give her big hugs and kisses and tell her how sorry you are that her tummy feels bad.

Then she will stop complaining.

I promise you, in 5 years you will miss these opportunities to snuggle with your little baby. Take all opportunities you have NOW, and don't be annoyed by them.

Steroids can cause mental changes and it does with me! They also last a long time in your system. Antibiotics can irritate your stomach and when my oldest was sensitive to one antibioti, it certainly caused him to throw up.
Just change the anti biotic and next time ask for a one time shot. Hysterics only for 1 day then!

If you think she's being a drama queen, send her to school and tell her to see the nurse if she feels like she's going to puke.

The flip side is that sometimes stomach upset is not just the ABs not being taken with food, but that there is a reaction or allergy. My DD once puked up her antibiotic the few times we tried to give it and the doc said, "Let's try something else" and she was OK after that.

You could get the doctor to explain to her that antibiotics are sometimes taken with food to make it easier on the stomach. That does NOT mean the meds are making her sick. Explain that allergy to meds is never nausea but instead would be a rash on her torso and maybe arms....(no matter what a drama queen you are you can't fake rash)
If the idea of going to another doc made her hysterical, then tell her the alternative is to just go on back to school. I had one kid that was a drama queen (thank goodness he was rarely ever sick or hurt) and I just had to deal with him firmly.

How old is she? I would be concerned something is really bothering her. I do think you should take her back to the Dr.

Your daughter is sick. The medication she's been given is also making her feel sick. She needs to be babied. Why is that her being a drama queen? Didn't you gladly baby her while she was sick when she was tiny and crying and couldn't tell you what was wrong? Didn't you wish when she was a baby that she could tell you so that you could address the problems?

Well, now she's old enough to tell you but you're calling her a drama queen and a complainer and assuming she's just trying to avoid going back to school. Have some compassion and give her the loving attention she needs.
