Help with Doctor for Eye Appointment Before Kindergarten

Hi -

I need to have my 5 yo daughter get an eye exam before entering Kindergarten this fall. I was going to have her go to my doctor, but I just found out that our vision care plan has changed to Davis Vision and my doctor is not a provider. Sigh.

Does anyone know of a good optomotrist or opthmologist in the NW suburbs (Arlington Heights, Palatine, Schaumburg area) who would be good for kids?

Thanks!
C.

I just took my twins to LensCrafters for their Kindergarten eye exams. They were very good with them.

You can walk in, (you may need to wait)....or you could get an appt within the next couple days.
I have an HMO(yuck) & only had to pay my doctor co-pay ($10) in my case.

My pediatrician did it during his physical for kindergarten a couple weeks ago. If you haven't had the physical done yet, ask the ped to do it for you! (No eye chart required, etc.) :)

My daughter sees Dr. Kimberly Curnyn. She has offices in Elk Grove and Arlington Hts. She is now 7 and has been going to her since she was almost 2. She is wonderful and almost all Opthamologists know her. She is wonderful with children. If you go to the Alexian Brothers Medical Center website and look for a dr., she's in there with her contact info.

Hi-

my friend recommended Assure Vision located in Arlington Town Square (Arlington Heights Rd, just south of NW Hwy. I just took both of my children (entering K and entering 1st) and they were wonderful with both of them. Their phone number is ###-###-####. I have EyeMed, and the exam cost us nothing. I think without any insurance, it would have been about $60?? Call and ask if they take the insurance. Both my kids have sensory processing disorder and anxiety, but wanted to keep going with the exam!
