What are some of your hobbies? I had my hobbies pre-kid, pre-marriage and I feel like I have lost myself. My spartk. My husband asked me what I wanted to do and I honestly have NO clue. Everything is so expensive and I have a horrible time spending money on myself. I want my spark back, how do i get it. How do I find a hobby how do i find myself again?

What can I do next?

I took up latch hooking, learning to play piano, reading (I pick this up and drop it), trying to get back into yoga, bowling and am slowly getting back into working independently. Not all of these things happen regularly, but I do what I can. Things are defnitely different since having kids!

I find girl-time essential and try to spend time with other women often. It doesn't matter what we do (dine out, potlucks, book club, work out, movies), it's just different than time with my husband and/or kids. Always lots of fun and laughing.

I'm in Parker and organize 2 women's Meetup groups close to you...Parker Cooking Divas(people come from as far as Wheat Ridge) and Mothers & More Castle Rock/Parker with all sorts of activities(we just reinstated our craft group and we have a meeting on the calendar). Feel free to check them out.

Good luck!

I got into horseback riding. I tell everybody it was the first thing I did in YEARS that was totally unrelated to being someone's employee, wife or mother. And, since a horse is a sensitive living creature, you need to be all there and really "present" -- without bringing anything from the outside world. If I'm spacey & distracted or unfocused, my horse knows. If I keep my head in what we're doing, he knows that too. There's something about working in unison with a 1000+ pound animal that just feels so terrific.

I tell everyone that my riding lessons are cheaper than a therapist and more fun than a personal trainer.

Good luck finding what makes you feel like YOU.

I make jewelry, I enjoy painting, and crafting of all sorts, love to read. I tried learning basic graphic design, photography... I would love to learn to sew and get back into piano. Would love to learn to play guitar and cake decorating.

As for finding hobbies, just look at what is interesting to you. You can take classes at places like Micheals, Joanns, Hobby Lobby...

I went through this too. All the things I like pre marriage and pre kids I just don't enjoy anymore. I opened a business where I get to go out and talk to adults and have some me time but where I also get to contribute to the household income. I love it. That is what I did to find me again. Although it's not the same me. :)

I figured out a long time ago that for me, maternal energy is creative energy. When I had my daughter it was all I could do to work, go ot school, take care of her and sleep. When she would go to dads for the summer or spring break I would go through a huge creative phase. All these diy projects would spring to mind. I'd paint, write, read, plant flowers, and greenery, rearange the house, and redecorate. I'd nurture those plants since I didn't have my little one to care for. Then she would come home and any unfinished projects I had going would stay unfinished because I had her to focus on again. I think that's normal. All of you is flowing into your caretaking right now. The only thing I really do now that gives me a spark is excercising. Working out is fun and enregizing for me. My kids are still my hobby. I go do all sorts of dorky fun stuff with them. That's enough for now.
