I got married about 6 months ago and husband has kids so my daughter has somone to play with now! Befor this it was just me and her. She's 3.5 and so my days were pretty much consumed with her. Now all of a sudden I find myself having a little freetime. She is also starting a little preschool class twice a week so I'm just kinda hanging out in that area. I used to do alot of scrapbooking and shopping but now it's hard becasue we're saving for a vacation and I'm just not as into scrapping as I used to be. I'm not all that crafty as it turns out lol. I've kind of lost track of who I am as a women and I'm trying to get back to being a person not just a mom. I still don't really have time to go do like mani/pedi type things. I love to read and I do that at night. Justg wondering if any of you girls have lost your way and how you found your way back. I recently joined a gym and that has been really good for me to. Thanks for all your ideas!

What can I do next?

Once I had kids, my "hobby" was just whenever I could get some "me" time.
Even if that means, just doing NOTHING!

Anyway, well I garden, paint, read, make jewelry. For now.

Sometimes just finding time for a hobby, is stressful.
I just like to have quiet.
LOL

Sounds like you are on the way already. Reading, the gym. Sounds like good outlets to me, as they are my faves as well.

Throw in the great outdoors which I take in with my DD.

And I agree with S.H. completely. A hobby becomes a chore when you have to stress over finding time for it.

I cross stich when I can and read alot. I also went back to school to finish what I started years ago. Im about to finish my first semester back.
As my kids have gotten older I realized the same thing. i thought I lost who I was then I realized I changed and grew into a better person. basically I just grew up. what my issues now are I feel older too....especially in my bones. Id like to do a gym, but I just dont have the discipline nor the will.
If your finding your in a rut, definately try something new, anything. a class, a walking group, anything to expand your horizons....

Scrapbooking is expensive and addictive.

Beading is cheaper for me because I only buy what I need for the project.

You're already doing my two favorite hobbies--reading and exercising. Try some classes at your gym. Try something new--weight lifting, yoga, pilates, Zumba..........

I recently discovered my passion for food & nutrition. Learning about healthy foods, vitamins, and trying new recipes is a hobby of mine! I had the same feeling as you a while back (and especially when I was a SAHM), but now that my girls are a little older (8 and 5), I've got a lot of my "self" back. You will get there. Just keep trying new things. :)

I went back to graduate school once I felt my kiddos were becoming more independent and to help re-establish me as me. I also got more involved with my professional organization.

On a personal note, I took up golf and started doing group weekend lessons with friends and "ladies' clinics"

Hope that helps with some direction

Mom time is very therapeutic! There's a group of us that hang out while our kids are in preschool..take walks, go for coffee, catch a movie, sit and chat! Does wonders for the soul to hear others talk about things that affect you too, they understand your life better than your non-kid friends do. Other than that, I'd work out, catch up on reading, take a dance class, or maybe a photography class if it were me! Enjoy!

I read a lot. Also, I joined a volleyball team with the local parks and rec.

I'm not "sporty" at all...but playing volleyball is a LOT of fun! Hop on the parks and rec site for your area and see what they offer.

I love to make my own jewelry. It's fun, therapeutic, and cheaper then buying it at the store. Plus, it makes great gifts! I also paint, write, and take pictures.

I like cross stitching, reading, writing because it's within my budget. If I had more money, I'd get back into painting and pottery. Darn those expensive art supplies! If money were no object I'd travel the world and create a photo-blog of my exploits.

You need to think about what you like to do. Are you an artist? More of a crafter (like to do things with your hands)? Do you love gardens? Would you love to write if you had the time? Music? Cooking? Baking?

Good for you for joining a gym! You can work on your health while you have a good time. And a little exercise can brighten your day. It's some sort of chemical thing.

Anyhow, once something grabs you, you see if and where you can fit it in to your life. Some things you'll need to classify as "wait for another season."

When my children were young, I did a lot of needlework because it was easy to set down and pick up - and I could take it places with me. I would also have knitted or crocheted if I'd known how.

I use to go to the gym every day, do cardio and weights, learn about fitness and clean eating was my passion and you could see that, sigh!
When I was pregnant I stop going to the gym and stop exercising completely which I regret to a point.
My daughter just star school too, and soon I will be joining the gym again, I am exited, is being 4 years, but never too late.
You will find your self and perhaps you will notice that you also have change, as we all do with time (and kids, husband, work, health, etc).
Good luck in your journey.

making a doll house is a fun project. a little at a time. My hubby and I did this 12 years ago and I am planning to remodel it now that they kids have played in it for a while and it seems like it needs some tlc.

About a year ago, I decided I was going to make some easy stretchy bead bracelets, just for fun. So I started buying beads on sale...and I haven't touched them! LOL!!! I love to read too, I read some when I'm in bed before I fall asleep. I don't really have any other ideas for you but I hope you find something you will like. =)

I enjoy service activities. I serve as President of the board of an organization trying to renovate a historic building to be the new town library. I also volunteer in my kids' school and help others who need it. There are many service organizations out there that need volunteers.

I also picked up a small "job", if you could call it that, because it's really more of a hobby. I sell kitchen tools and host parties. It gets me out of the house and lets me meet lots of other moms and just have fun with the girls, plus I make a little bit of money.
