I just got my house insurance bill today. It went up $15. Does yours go up every year? My car ins goes up every 6 months too. I'm considering switching, but first I wanted to see if they all went up, or just mine.

I'm w/ American Family if that makes a difference.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure if it going up was normal or not. now I know it's not only normal, it's a "cheap" increase.

Thanks!

Just be careful about switching around too many times. There might be a file you get in. Yes things go up nothing much ever goes down. Just try your best to see if there is something you might be able to lower (like medical or liability).

If my policy only went up $15 that would be great. Do you have both of your policies with the one insurer? You usually get a discount if you do.

Good luck.

That's not too bad of an increase, but I've read that you should shop around every 6 months or so anyway, just to see what the rates are (don't have to necessarily switch). We've switched 2 times in the last 2 years and saved money by doing so. Keeps them honest. :)

I have Amica for both. I've had them for the car for 8 or 9 years and it's gone up and down, but never by too much. I've had the renters for 3 and it hasn't changed. They also consistently have the best rates for what I need.

I have Esurance and my homeowner's has stayed the same (we're only on year 2 though) Our car insurance usually goes down, except when there has been an accident, then it goes way up and comes down slowly again. Last year we got a second car and it went --- Down? Huh? Then they asked for paperwork from my last 2 oil changes to prove that my car is low mileage and I was not able to find it, so it went up a tiny bit.
Yesterday, though, I learned the company has been bought out by Allstate, so I'm guessing I won't have it good for too much longer.

My car insurance went up by $15 this time. My insurance company said that all insurance polices are inccreasing. :(
