Home Employment Possibilities

I am looking for some advice on different home employment possibilities. I am currently a stay-at-home mom to three children and have been for the past six years. I have a bachelors degree in business and lately have been feeling almost depressed about staying at home. My youngest is 2 1/2 and I really am not ready to go back to work and deal with daycares for my children. I would rather wait a couple more years until they are all school-aged and then look at going back into the work-force. Until then, I have been searching for work-from-home possibilities and they are either scams or a waste of time. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or thoughts on something I could do from home. I have already considered taking on an infant to watch but that would be my limit...I'm not interested in opening a daycare in my home. I also am not interested in joining a business where I have to sell things. I really am just looking for something I can do from my computer. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I am a consultant for a newer company, Taste of Home ENTERTAINING. Yes, I do home shows, but it is so easy! No cooking and the presentation is 15 minutes! Guests really just want to talk and see the catalog and see all the beautiful products. There are many reps all around the country, but it is still new in Cincinnati, so there is a huge demand for shows and not enough reps to handle them..........we need more reps in Cincinnati/northern KY.
www.nancymolter.tohe.com to see a catlog or to contact me.
They are owned by Reader's Digest.
We make 25% commission.....one show's average commission is $100 to $175---it adds up quickly!

We do this in our spare time and on a part-time basis. If you would like to check it out, let me know. I will send you the website. You can email me at ____@____.com.

well first good luck in your search, I just recently went through this all myself and I found a business that i lvoe that I don't have to have the parties and seel things or handle products or inventory, I just have to sit in front of my computer and come up with ways to market our website and help ppl sign up and become members of this great site where they can order all of their household cleaning items, hygiene items, vitamins at great prices and they are all natural products that are safe and work great as well. you do have to be a member yourself to get a check for your refurals but you are paid by check once a month based on the number of ppl that you sign up and you get a commision off the products they buy. there is no start up fee for the first 4 months and then it is only like 40.00 and it cost 9.00 for the website, so if it isn't for you you can alsway cancle and only be out the 9.00. and i lvoe it I am a sahm as well and i do the daycare thing but I wanted something a little more oh I don't know just different that wasn't about the kids all the time. I can send you the information on the company and let you do your own reserch and if you are intrested I can get you set up with an account and tell you how to set up the website. We have training calls and webcasts to go over all teh products that the company offers and just so you know all items are shipped to the customer not to you so like i said before there is no inventory or money to handle. good luck and I hope to hear from you.

If you google work at home, you may be able to find something. I had the chance once to work from home. You have to have high speed internet. I can't remember the company name but I would take customer service calls for them. It was all free to get started and they paid on how many calls you answered. I found them through internet searches. It seemed legit but other things were going on in my life at the time.

Hi H.,
You have already received a variety of responses. I have owned another business where I traded hours for dollars (like medical transcription, etc.) Why not considering investing your time for future income rather than just continuing to trade hours for dollars? If you want to see income from that perspective, check out www.explorefreedom.com/changinglives. The theory behind this type of business is this:
work work work work work work money
work work work work work money money
work work work work money money money
work work work money money money money
work work money money money money money
work money money money money money money
What most of us do our entire lives is like the first line:
work work work work work work money
The products I distribute are from a company that has been in business over 50 years, has NEVER had a product recalled and was recently purchased by a gentleman who spent 20 million dollars over a 5 year period of investigating the best company to buy. He wants to change the world and I am helping him do it.
Best of luck in your quest. Staying at home with your kids is one of the best investments you will ever make in their lives. I admire you for your desire.

H. - Its great you put it out there and you're getting a lot of advice. I have had my own business for 2 years now and tried a few before I found this one. As you are considering your options you'll need to consider a few things:

1) Do you want to sell products (ie. be a distributor)?
While there are great businesses out there where you have to sell product, you have to consider that you will have to invest your own money on these products, store them at your house and resell them. This also includes bookkeeping responsibilities, taking payments, throwing parties, etc.

2)Is it an MLM? This effects the compensation structure significantly. Usually, when you work, you are making more money for the folks above you than for yourself. Also, if someone below you does better than you they breakaway from you. So you did all the work with training and support then they breakaway and you no longer benefit from their efforts. Lastly, in most MLM structures, you can buy your way into higher levels. Its volume based so you can spend your own money buying more of your product so that you can hit a higher commission level. This last one is the key reason why so many MLMers go deep into debt and never really earn a profit!!

3) How solid is the company? Do they publicize earnings for their independent business owners? If not, red flag to stay away!!

4) Do they have an infrastructure (ie. team) in place that will train and support you along the way? This is so important!!! Especially if you've never done a home business before. If you don't have a solid support system to tap into, it can be your demise. Even if you are the sharpest tool in the shed.

Not sure where you are located but I am in NE Ohio and I have built a solid team and business in this area. (as well as all across the U.S.). I have never sold a products, I never spend any of my own money, and our team and company is rock solid!! This is not an MLM. If you're interested you can check me out at the following:

www.SucceedLikeMe.com and www.GoGreen4Health.com

I'd be more than willing to give you all the details of my business to see if its a good fit for you. Or, if you just need some advice, I'm willing to do that as well!

Good luck!

If you are looking into selling opportunities - you make a 50% profit with Mary Kay. (You can private message me if you want info on that.) What about looking into doing book keeping or accounting work from home? Or maybe hooking up with a caterer to work on weekends.

Hi H.,I, too, am a stay@ home mom and have been for 15 yrs. My kids are 15,13 and 11. I know how you are feeling about wanting to do something other than cleaning the house!I have found a terrific co. and am building a business in my p.j.s as I write. It is product based, however, there is no selling per se,no investments, order taking etc. Our job is to educate and inform others of these awesome products for the home and family. If you like to deal with people then this migh be something to look at for yourself. We are not looking for an investment, but only for people who would like to work and you would be trained to customize your own business. Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like to know more.

Hi! I provided daycare from home for about a year, and while I did earn some income from that, I just didn't enjoy it. I just started as an independent consultant for a company named BeautiControl. I put on Spa Escapes, bringing spa quality products into people's homes to create a relaxing environment in which to try out the latest rejuvenating skin products with family and friends. This is so fun and easy to do! Each spa only lasts an hour, so I only work about 5 hours a week if I hold two spas plus other misc. bookkeeping, etc. You earn 35-50% of your sales. The clients write their checks to you, so you take home your money the night of the spa! Also, if you enroll just one other person as a consultant, you can earn 4% of their total sales. Then, even better, once you enroll 4 consultants, you get 8% of their sales, and it just keeps going! Plus if you have enrolled four consultants, you earn 50% of your sales all the time! If you hold just two spas a week, you can earn $1000 a month! I don't know about you, but this means a lot to me. I've been contemplating going back to work for a while now (my background is in social work), but I'm just not willing to go back to work full-time while my children are so young (I have two girls, ages 4 and 1). I absolutely love the products and use them all the time. They are so great that once people try them, they sell themselves. And getting people to host a Spa Escape in their home is so much easier than with other parties. It's very low pressure, as we just want clients to enjoy the products in a relaxing atmosphere.

I hope you find something you are interested in doing! There are so many possibilities today in which we can enjoy the flexibility of staying at home while still earning income. Let me know if you'd like more info. Good Luck!

It is call center based so you may start there for a few months until you are trained. It is worth looking in to. No scams. You can find more information on line at Medco.com. Good luck.
