I work full time and I have friends, but none of them have kids, or they live far away. I need some just to talk to other than my husband or family when it comes to my son. I just want a girlfriend that I can talk to!

Hi A.,

I am a full-time working mom of a 2 1/2 year old daughter and also find it hard to make friends. Most of the social groups I find are during the day, so I cannot attend. I am also in Yuba City, so if you are interested in maybe setting up a playdate (for us, and/or our kids!) My email address is [email protected]____.com care!

i've met so many people at the park, the schools.. it's really hard to get into the clicks that exist... even stay at home moms'. talk to people at the kids events, offer your number or play day on a weekend... it's not easy at all. talk to people here.. note, where you live and when you are available for play days.. you'll find connections. just takes time.

Some advice that I read once and it worked well was to be brave and to talk to other moms at playgrounds or wherever it is that you are, because chances are that the other moms are probably wanting to make friends too. And to think of it almost as if you are in the dating scene again and to get up the courage to ask people that you see around if they would like to get together some time. Don't get discouraged though and keep trying. We moved to Sacramento when my oldest daughter was about 21 months and I would try a lot to make friends and would tell them I was new in town etc... And a lot of times I would get the response that, "well, you'll find your nitch eventually..." and then I would never see them again. Anyway, don't get discouraged. Just keep going to kid friendly places and talk to the other moms. If there is a library storytime in your area at a time that you can go, this is a great place to go to because generally the same people go every week and they have around the same age kids. Good Luck!

You need to meet people with kids. Take your kid to a park, usually lots of moms with preschoolers at parks, join a co-op preschool or find a mom's group.

I too am looking for people or a person to connect with. I'm in the petaluma area but don't mind doing a phone thing. I'm starting to feel trapped and am finding myself fighting against this feeling. Would love to support you and receive support in return. Contact me at [email protected]____.com

Teresa's right, join Moms in Motion! We are a non-profit group for Moms with kids 0-5 years old. Most of us are stay at home moms or part time workers but we do have night activities for Moms to connect. We have a movie and/or dinner night every month as well as a book club for moms. Also, some of us have husbands who work weekends (like mine) so it would be nice to have some friends who might like to have a playdate on a Saturday. Our website is www.momsinmotionyc.org

I have 2 1/2 year old twin girls.

Hi A.. I noticed you are in Yuba City, so am I. I too worked full time and went to school almost full time and I found it difficult to make friends locally due to my hectic and sometimes stressful schedule. Your doing good right here, you'll meet and make some really nice people/friends. May I suggest joining a church or if financially fesable, a gym and since I don't know much about your work or the position you hold, if possible theres several mommy networks out there. I belong to MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers - really age 0-5)and we meet every 1st and 3rd Tuesday a month at the Nazarene off of George Washington at 9:30am and there is Moms in Motion who have things going on every day of the week, you don't have to go to every one, just pick the ones you'd be interested in. Well I hope this is some encouragment and please feel free to email me.

I started my oun business in Jan. to make a little extra money, and what I got out of it besides income was many new frienships. I was able to meet women that I normaly wouldn't socialise with, and it has been great! Many of them have kids the same age as mine. These women have provided me support and encouragement that I didn't even realize I needed. It has definatley made me a more confident better person.
