How Long Did It Take to Conceive Baby #2? - Pasadena,CA

I am just wondering how long it took you ladies to get pregnant with baby #2. I had no problem conceiving my son but am having a hard time getting pregnant with #2. Just wishing there is still hope. I think I am taking how easy it was for me to get pregnant the first time for granted.

I guess I am hoping that it would happen sooner than later because I am already 36 and turning 37 early next year plus I want baby #2 to be closer in age to my son who is 13 months.

I guess on top of that I am also stressing myself out a bit by reading about secondary infertility where couples have no problems conceiving baby #1 but for some reason can't conceive or have difficulty conceiving baby #2.

Thanks.

What can I do next?

11 days to conceive number 1, 13 months for number 2 and 16 months for number 3. Keep trying and don't give up!
I also want to mention that I am currently pregnant with number 3, and will be 38 in two weeks.

Don't worry at all! It will happen when it is supposed to! I had my first baby 10 years after my husband and I got married. Then we had our second 6 years after that. Since number two I have gotten pregnant every two years on the button ever since. We have never used birth control or anything, we just let it be. Everyone and every child is totally different, one thing I do know is to just let it be and relax, it will happen when it is supposed to.

Good luck!

Of course there is still hope. It took 6 years. There is 22 years difference between my kids, so obviously I didn't start trying right away, but there are all sorts of factors and everyone is different.

One try for baby #1. As soon as I had a period after baby one I was pregnant with baby two. Not planned! Whoops. I was 34. It is different for everyone at any age. Don't stress - just keep trying. We aren't spring chickens anymore so be patient. If you had one baby there is no reason you can't have another!

I read some of your previous questions and it looks like you have only been trying for 2 months now, but I feel your pain. We are on month 9 and still no luck. My son was literally conceived while I was on the pill, so I figured there would be NO problems whatsoever, but obviously that's not the case. Know that you aren't alone, and if you get pregnant next month, you actually had it happen fairly quickly!

First baby it was one try, one month and viola! Piece of cake! So I wrongly assumed (despite the fact that I knew the stats) that it would happen again! Well, it only took 3 months the second try, but it felt like forever!
I ended up using Answer OPKs twice a day and that made all the difference. I was ovulating almost 5 days later than prior to baby #1 even though my cycles were the same length. Who would have thought?!
Good luck!

I did not have another cycle after I stopped taking my pills, so maybe a week or so for our second child. Our first took about six months. Our third took about three months. I am only 27, though, so can't speak to the age for you. I do have a friend who was, I believe, 33 or so when she had her first, maybe 34 or 35 with her second, 36 or 37 with her third, and then I don't think she was quite 39 when she had her fourth, so you can still conceive quickly regardless of age. I think the same basics would apply--try to relax and not stress about it, have fun trying. :)

It took 2 and half years to get pregnant the second time and I had to use the fertility drug Clomid. It took five rounds of Clomid to get pregnant.

With that said, six years later, without trying and without knowing, I became pregnant with my now one year old daughter. Because of how difficult it was to get pregnant the second time, I never imagined that I could even get pregnant again so I didn't find out until I was 16 1/2 weeks along, even my OBGYN was stunned.

I wish you the best of luck. Fertility is a tricky thing. I think stressing about it definitely does not help but not stressing is easier said than done.

With my first, I was on birth control and got pregnant. With number two, which Im about 30 weeks pregnant with right now, It was a completely different story. We wanted to wait a little bit longer before we tried to have another one, but long story short, I had a couple drinks, came home and yeah I was pregnant later that night. One hit wonder. I hope it will come easier for you also. Sometimes if you stop trying, things will happen. Take a break from trying for awhile and see what happens.
Good Luck!

Well, it took me 16 month to get pregnant again, but that was because I was breastfeeding my 1st until she was 14 months old. As soon as she was weaned... well, it didn't take long. In fact I didn't even have a period.
