My hubby bought me a Spa Day and I will be using it this weekend. YAY!!!
I am getting a massage, a facial, a pedi and mani and makeup. My question is how much do I tip each person? Do I have to tip each person (I assume so)? Also, they are giving me a salad for $10 do I tip that person too?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

The Spa Day was Awesome!!! I ended up tipping $10 each because the services were around $85 for each (the mani and pedi together were given by the same girl). It might be a little high but I LOVED my day and everything was awesome, especially my massage and facial and the pedi and mani. LOL I had set the money aside and felt they desrevd the $10. Such a great day!

I am also a hairstylist and I always appreciate a tip, if only to show that you are happy with the services provided. I would say even $5.00 per large service and maybe a dollar or 2 for something small.

I have always tipped 20-30% for someone who touches my body. You will be given envelopes when you check out, and you can put a tip (based on the cost of each service) in the envelope for the person who performed the service.
Most massages cost $60-80/hr, which would be $12-20 depending on the quality of service. Remember this is a one hour service- nonstop!
I wouldn't worry about tipping the person who gives you the salad, it will probably be the receptionist, and that is part of what they do. If she is really accomodating, you can give her $2.
The mani, pedi, makeup I would tip $5 each, but if the pedi person spends an hour...
The facialist should be tipped like the massage therapist.

These are my guidelines because the people performing the services are touching my body, not just giving me a beer!
Have a great day and don't stress over tipping!

Oh, I'm going to get alot of flack for this for sure...but I always go against the "grain"!

Fist like the one Mom said check the fine print, I'm sure it is included. Also, I always base a tip on service AND what I can afford! I think if places like this want to make more money they should charge more not expect ther clients to dish out more on top of what they already paid!!!

Enjoy your day though and give that dh of yours a BIG hug and kiss for being so sweet :)

Standard tip is 15-20%, and yes you do have to tip each person, including the salad server. Just make sure you have lots of $1 & $5 on you. Enjoy! It sounds fab!

A tip is generally based on how well the services are - and typically 15% or more depending upon how much you enjoyed the work provided. As a bodywork provider; it is nice to know that your work is appreciated. :)

I do not think you need to tip for your salad - then you are paying for your lunch, which is to be included in your day. (I would not expect it if I provided it for you.)

Some important things for you to know, tho...
On getting your massage, I do recommend that you be honest with your therapist and speak up about how you want the massage. Feedback from clients is that some massages were not what they expected - so if you want more or less pressure, do not be afraid to ask for it.

For the facial - make sure you are reclined enough to be comfortable.

As you are pregnant - you need to remain in contact with your therapist as well... Make sure they know what they know how to provide a prenatal massage, and avoid too much pressure on your ankles - this can be a contraindicated spot right now. Make sure you can have water in the room with you and that you can have bathroom breaks.
MAKE SURE YOU FEEL OKAY - AS YOU ARE RECEIVING MORE THAN ONE TREATMENT. As a therapist, I never book anyone this way as a rule to be sure the client will be okay. Typically, 60 minutes is more than enough in pregnancy so you do not overdo it.

As a therapist, that is what I can advise you now. Enjoy! :)

I went to a spa last week for a pedicure and the tip was just added at the end like a regular haircut. The spa splits the tip evenly among those who provided services for the day. My friend ended up treating me and she gave each of our girls a $10 tip, which I thought was pretty high, but she and her hubby are debt free (oh to dream!) and have fantastic jobs. I would have only given them $5.

I agree that $5 per service would be good. I usually do between 10% and 15% for spa services.

Wow your getting alot done but yeah it's a good idea to tip each person. I had a pedi & mani done & tipped each person $5.00. Hopefully you get some other ideas cause of course everything adds up quickly with all the services your getting but do enjoy your Spa Day:)

I would tip 15-20% for each service. I don't think you need to tip for the salad if you are just going to be sitting solo and eating. Have fun!
