Pay her enough to come back! lol no but really it depends on what she is doing exactly and just talk to her and ask her what she expects and what you are willing to pay and if she asks for too much then maybe cut back on what you are asking her to do, Good luck!

NEVER pay by the hour. Pay by the job. I live in Southern Cal., so I'm shocked at how much people are paying in areas where the cost of living is less.

My cleaning lady cleaned our 2000sf home (4 beds, 3 baths) and no carpet, so all hardwood and tile for $80. She did windows, floors, moved and cleaned under furniture, dusting, polished sinks, bathrooms, dusted baseboards, etc. I had her come every 2 weeks and moreso it was for the bathrooms. Time consuming! I work outside the home and homeschool my children, so I'd rather spend time with my kids than clean my house. That being said, I'm pretty OCD about how clean my house is so, by most people's standards my house is always clean....but like I said, it was more for the bathrooms and floors, which I obviously kept up during those 2 weeks in between cleanings.

The initial cleaning was $120.

The going rate here for professionals is $20 per hour for routine and $25-30 per hour per individual cleanings. The discount is because if they come biweekly, they don't have to deep clean laer.

I would pay $50 per hour CASH if I could find someone who actually cleaned everything correctly including the tub and shower.

It really depends on the size of your house, number of bedrooms & bathrooms, etc. I would say somewhere between $75-100 if she can clean the whole house in about four hours. If it's a bigger house, I think you'll need to offer her more.

Whatever you pay her make sure you get it down between you exactly what your paying for. I pay my cleaning lady $25 an hour. she does 3 the bathrooms (toilets, sinks, shower/tubs and floors and mirrors) she vacuums the whole upstairs (4 bedrooms and hallway) makes my bedroom up with clean sheets and does a minimal amount of dusting of any clear surfaces. she cleans the kitchen appliances and the sinks, sweeps the whole first floor, living room, dining room, family room and kitchen and mops the kitchen floor and entry way floor, she dusts the clear / flat surfaces and the tv. this all takes aprox 6 hours so $150 each time. I have made it clear I do not want her doing deep dusting and or deviating from what I want done without prior discussion. I do not want to pay $25 an hour for her to pull books and videos out and dust them so only the regular stuff unless I ask for and pay for extra. Just make sure you both understand and agree to what is being cleaned and what your paying. it will help down the road

Ask her! Just in casers...I used to clean houses, I never cleaned by the hour, I cleaned by the job...how big the house was & what the person needed done I have charged as much as $80.00 & as little as $20.00 (this was in the 90's). She is your SIL, she should be able to discuss the price with you without all the normal 'business' BS. Just be sure to give her what is fair to both of you & a, 'Thank You' & maybe a gift from your vacation would be a nice gesture as well!

In our area a full house 'initial clean' is several hundred dollars (300-700 as a range). Ongoing cleaning is apx $60 per hour.

I wouldn't do less than 200, myself. Less than hiring it out (so it wouldn't matter how 'good' it was, it's not like the money would be better spent hiring an outfit) enough not to be insulting.

Since these things are regional, why not get a few phone estimates From local agencies and the pay her 1/4 less than asking up to what you'd pay to outsource it?

When I was cleaning houses I charged $60 for up to 3 hours of work. It took me about 3 hours to do the kitchen, bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, trash, dusting,door washing, etc. Anything extra like blinds, baseboards, ceilings, laundry, etc. would be more time, so more money.

We pay ours $100/visit and the length of time she's here varies (sometimes she doesn't touch the kids' rooms b/c they're a mess and it's not her job to pick up SD's laundry). The first visit was $150. I don't know how that compares to the going rate, though, because that's been her rate for years.

Also lay out what you want her to do and what she's offering to do. Our lady offered to do laundry and dishes, but we told her it wasn't necessary (though if some cups are in the sink when she gets to the kitchen, she does them...her quirk, not our requirement). If you want your SIL to clean baseboards, specify. I'd work with her on a list and leave the list so you are both on the same page. If you want a deep clean, definitely pay her more. Ask her what's fair once you've figured out the specifics.

I also like bringing a thank you gift from the trip.

I have seen people ask for the 25 an hour and i cant pay it. so i did find some one to do it for 10 but i do think sherry is right you need to say I would like to pay you X to do Y. thank you very much.

We have a family friend that comes over every 2 weeks to clean. We pay her $40 per visit. She usually stays about 2.5 hours.

Our cleaning lady charges $70 per visit and stays 9-2. I give her $80, she comes once every 4-6 weeks and does all the deep cleaning that I hate to do (and am bad at, if I'm being honest).

I clean for a living and it all depends on what you want done AND how big your house is.

I would say for a basic clean i.e. floors, vacuuming, bathrooms, all dusting, kitchen, blinds, etc. I charge roughly $80 for 3000sf. But, for me, I like doing extra stuff for which I do not charge. I'll change sheets on the bed, clean fingerprints/dog drool off windows, fold laundry, pledge kitchen cabinets, etc.

If someone wants a deep clean, I do that as well, but, for a minimal extra charge. But, I doubt that's what you're looking for. Sounds like you just would like a clean house.
