I was thinking about trying this. I'm hoping this could help with compulsive overeating, etc. Has anyone had success/failure with hynosis for weight loss? I would love to hear your experience either way.

What can I do next?

Many many years ago, I went to one of those group hypnosis sessions. It didn't work at all. Back in 2003, my mother had a friend at work whose father started listening to a hypnosis tape for weight loss and he was having really great success with it. The name of the tape is Lose Weight Through Self-Hypnosis by Harold Bloomfield and Vetesse Sirah. I ordered it thru Amazon and I lost 13 pounds effortlessly while listening to it. I listened to side 1 only once and from then on, I only listened to side 2 (I didn't really like side 1) and I had to take 30 minutes out of my day, every day, for several weeks, to listen to it, but the effects were great for me and long lasting. My hunger level went way down, water started tasting really great and I had less cravings for foods that were high calorie and more cravings for vegetables. I was also more motivated to exercise and actually felt guilty when I didn't exercise. Even after I stopped listening to the tape, the effects lasted a long time. I was able to lose an additional 40 pounds on WW as well and it was so weird hearing people at the meetings talk about having to struggle not to eat too much when I found it so easy. I found the best way to listen to the tape was on a walkman with headphones when I knew I wouldn't have any distractions. Also, I had to be sitting up because I would always fall asleep when I layed down.

I'm hoping to start using the tape again because I got pregnant in 2004 and gained all my weight back plus. I hope it works as good this time as it did the last.

Just fyi, I also bought Health Journeys: A Meditation to Help You with Weight Loss by Belleruth Naparstek to listen to on CD and Slim Forever for Females: Subliminal Self-Help by Audio Activation to listen to in the car, but I bought these later and didn't listen to them as frequently or regularly so I can't really say if they helped as much or not. The good thing about the CD by Belleruth Naparstek was it was supposed to work even if you did fall asleep so I usually listened to that one when I layed down for bed and the one for the car was nice because it was just subliminal. No talking. Just music and waves and sounds so I wasn't really concentrating on it when I was driving.

I guess the most important thing I found wth regard to the hypnosis tape was consistency. If I didn't listen to it almost every day for several (at least 3 or 4) weeks, I didn't get the same effect. I've tried restarting it several times. I am finding it much harder to find that extra 30 minutes now than I did before my last child. Wonder why? ;-) Good luck!

E.,

I personally have not, but a close friend of mine has used hypnosis, ear stapling and almost every other "quick fix" out there. She actually gains more weight then she loses. I've successfully lost (and kept off) over 40 pounds and can tell you first hand that this is how I did it (1) Made the decision to lose the weight (2) Became much more disciplined in choosing healthy foods and getting outside v. being inactive and (3) added supplements that have balanced my body, assisted me with losing the cravings and overall have improved my health.

There is no quick fix to losing weight....it's all about lifestyle. You did not put on the extra weight overnight and it will be a process to take it off. However if you stick with it you can do it!

All the best

I have never tried it but my friend has. She had actually tried everything because she was about 85 pounds over weight. She started a company called the Bio Wellness Center in Ft. Worth and teaches people how to eat and also does Aricular Therapy. (It is sort of like acupuncture...but does not hurt...and these little tiny ball thingys go inside the ear.) The ear has several pressure points that control several pressure points in the body. Like....cravings, thirst, and most importantly energy. I used the Aricular therapy and lost weight and started feeling great. At that time I discovered "Isagenix" which has done wonders for me and my friends and family. It is an Organic food program w/ a natural Cleanse that gives you more energy and the only side effect is that you lose weight! I lost 2 pant sizes in 3 weeks (naturally) and Robin is almost down her 85 pounds in 3 months. If you want to learn more you can watch this Channel 4 news broadcast on Isagenix...go to-
www.gocleanse.com/releasethetoxins or to shellyrusher.isagenix.com. We have also formed a support group called "Cleanse watchers" to help one another along and we meet once a week schedules permitting. I hope I can help you.
SIncerely and good luck!

I did the hypnosis and it didn't work. I tried the accupunture with a Dr.Lee in Arlington. He is off of Collins. That worked great. He put me on a "diet", I couldn't have carbs for 1 week, then 2nd week only 10% carbs, 3rd week 20% carbs and the 4th I could go back to 10% or none. It was really easy to follow and with the accupucture and diet I lost 25lbs in 5 weeks. I don't know how much he is now but at the time it was $30/week. Hope you find what your looking for!
