Shaklee's Basic H2 will clean just about anything! For wood floors, they suggest 1 tablespoon of BH2 to 1 gallon of water. I'm actually a distributor and would be happy to send you a sample if you want. Just let me know!

Like Carrie B. stated above, we use Shaklee's Basic-H on our hardwood floor. With 2 big dogs in the house, they tend to make a mess from time to time. This is the best the floors have looked since we moved in! The Basic-H also works awesome on leather. It cleans better than saddle soap.

Take care,
J.

R., I used to finish hardwood floors, and you should RARELY use any type of wet mopping on hardwood floors. I have a hard time believing that Murphy's took off the finish. Since this is a high traffic area, I am more inclined to believe that wear took the finish off, and cleaning with Murphys' brought it out. Since some finish is gone, you might want to sand it a bit and re-seal your floors. Do you live in the Akron area? Call WCCV (Wood, Ceramic, Carpet, Vinyl). They've been around FOREVER. They can retail products or you can have their techs do the work for you. Good luck!

i use vinegar and water, and it works great. a friend says she puts it in a spray bottle and uses a microfiber mop, which sounds like a good idea so the floor doesn't get so wet. i've also used bruce's on my sister's advice and liked it, but you don't get any cheaper than vinegar. :)

R.,

I just got a Shark Steam Mop for Christmas and I love it. It really cleans the floors well, especially the ceramic tile bathroom floors. I don't have wood but I would imagine that it would be really good for the wood floors because it uses so little water and the water that is left behind dries in less than 2 min. No more sticky residue on the linoleum, no more dirty grout in the bathrooms and at the entry doors. It was a little expensive and I had my doubts but I have to say it does the trick. I was having a very hard time in the bathrooms because we have four boys and there was always an odor in the bathrooms that I was trying to cover up. The steam mop blasted the smell, got really deep down in the grout and never smells anymore.

I don't personally have any wood floors, but I use a non-toxic product (I hate the idea of little hands and feet on chemical floors) called Rustic Touch. I get it from a wholesale internet store. I use it on my doors, trim, cabinets, etc. My friends use it on their floors and love it. My previous church also used it on their pews. I would be glad to share the information with you, if you like. www.fourpointwellness.com

I like Method cleaners from Target. They have a very nice floor cleaner, it's lemon and ginger scented. Very nice and non-toxic.

I've tried a lot of different products on my wood floors and the products I like best are from Bona (http://www.mybonahome.com/Home.aspx). My floors definitely look better with them. They even have a refresher product that will help with places on your floor that are starting wear out.

You should not use murphy's or any other wood cleaner like that because it causes build-up on floors and has wax, silcones and abrasives in it. Vinegar and hot water works great, i have 1,000 square feet of hardwood. If the floors are really dirty I throw in a splash of spic n span to loosen the dirt. I also use a steam mop and towel to get up excess water. Don't let wet mop water sit on floors because it will harm them.
