I'm in the market for a heart rate monitor and I don't know one from the other. I have heard good things about Polar hrm's but I don't have any experience with them. When I looked at Polar hrm's I was overwhelmed with all the different model's. I want a hrm for loosing weight purposes. I want something that will show me calories burned and help me stay in my target zone. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

I also have a polar. I have the F6 and this is my 3rd Polar. I had a real basic one before & then went to a real complex one and finally they came out with a pink one and I could not resisit!!!! My friend and workout buddy recently bought a timex heart rate mont and took it back after a week. She said it was too hard to figure out. (she replaced it with a Polar)
as for the other response, I have never picked up anyone elses heart rate on any of my Polars. Good luck

I bought a watch at Walmart that has heartrate, target zone percentage, calories burned, timer, alarm, time (of course, haha). It was pretty inexpensive and I love it. It's by Sportline. But they had a few others to choose from there (Target did also) that are easy to program and less than $60. Mine doesn't upload any info to a computer though. You'd have to keep track of that on your own or go to something like logyourrun.com to input the information to keep it online. I was basically a couch potato and now I'm training for a 5K. I wasn't looking to spend a lot of money just starting out. So, far I'm very happy with it. :) Hope this helps.

I would definitely get a polar they seem difficult at first but once you get use to it then they are the best. If you know of a personal trainer they can accurately put in your information such as your target zone and your RHR so it will be completely accurate. They are more expensive but you get what you pay for. I know you will love it, it is one of the best investments. Good Luck :)

I have the Polar RS200SD. I got mine off of Amazon for a lot cheaper than in any store. I am in fitness and I love this watch. You can see everything as you work out-calories, heart rate, mph and also keep track of the time. I find it easy to use and it was easy to put all of my info in-height, weight and all of that. Best of luck to you no matter which watch you choose!

I have the pink Polar F6 and I love it! Spent about $100. Calories in and calories out, that's the way to go. Congrats on taking a big step towards living a healthy lifestyle!!!

Kudos to you for taking charge of your fitness goals. Go with the Polar brand watch. You only need the one that is around $100 because it will track calories, zone, etc unless you want to track your results on your computer. Also, there is a facility close to downtown that will repair/replace batteries on the watch. My watches are OLD..3 to 5 yrs old.. and work great but are no longer being made.

I love my Polar. Mine was about $200 a couple of years ago and F6 and it was a lot cheaper. I have a lot of bells and whistles, but the main thing is-mine won't pick up someone else's heart rate if I'm working out next to them. My husband's will. I had to get a new battery this year and I sent it into Polar and they replaced it for about $25. It was really fast because there in Dallas. Hope this helps.
