Ideas for Cleaning Rail Covers on Pack N Play

I recently got a Pack N Play that was previously owned. It's in really great shape, but the fabric that covers the top rails is dirty. This play yard was used mainly on trips to the beach, so I'm sure there's just as much sunscreen as dirt on the covers. They aren't removable, so I need ideas to scrub them clean. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help!

For tough build-up I use a bleach solution of about 50-50 water to bleach ratio. Use rubber gloves. Dip a scrub brush in solution and scrub away. Rinse.

These ladies have offered some great advice, I would have never thought of! I was going to suggest making a paste of mild soap like dreft or ivory that you use for the babies laundry and a brush like for cleaning your nails or veggies. Then rinsing the same say. Hope you are able to get it cleaned, the slip cover idea is awesome too!

As another person said, CARWASH! That is my answer to everything! Highchair after a birthday party (or even for a good cleaning) Carseat without the cover on it, stroller, pack n play. The carwash is good for more then just washing your car.

I have used my carpet shampooer on things like that, if you can find one with an attached house that has the attachments, it will get it clean. I have a hoover and love it for all sorts of things.

Hi Rebecca,
We did this for our PNP b/c we had started using it as a "toy bin" :-P.
We took it outside and sprayed it with a cleaner (we used 409 b/c that's our fav.) then hose it off really well and let it dry in the sun. If it still looks dirty after you rinse, you can use a brush and scrub it a little to get the spots off-I guess you could use a spot remover too. Then rinse again and let it dry.
It looked as good as new! (it also works on the fabric covered 'rails' along the top). We also do this with our carseat (after we remove cover for washing) b/c you know stuff gets under the cover and mashed into the seat.
Hope this helps.
:-) C.

I would try Oxyclean. Otherwise I found a really great slipcover for mine. It's removable and washable! http://www.coverplayard.com/

After J decided to explore that yucky brown stuff in his diaper and rub it everywhere in the pack and play we took it to the car wash. The pad and the sides can clean very easily. Just be sure you tilt the pad on its side to dry so the water runs off, it takes a really long time to dry otherwise.

"Tough Stuff" should do the job. Just spray on, let sit for a bit and scrub.

Hello Rebecca, I just wanted to let you know most chemicals that you used realy arent good for children. I would recommend usuing baking soda. Bleach is so horrible for children and most chemicals even if you get them out of the fabric there is still a residue.. I would love to share a health and wellness company with you that has safe products that dont cantain ammonia, bleach, formelhyde, or phospates in them. I love the products and they help clean without nasty smells or anything harmful. If interested let me know. ____@____.com

Congrats on your little one.
