I am a great therapist however, an awful PR person! I am starting a group called CODE (Children of Divorce Expressing Themselves), at the end of the month.School is not in session (my greatest resource), so I am trying to come up with other places to send notice of the group. I have contacted other therapists, past clients and a few Divorce/Family Law lawyers. Any suggestions are welcome!

If you could put the word out to local AA and NA groups, Al-Anon, Al-teen, etc. you would open up a large possible client base. The children of addicts are facing multiple problems and there is a large percentage of divorce in these families.

Good luck to you.

Some ideas you might want to consider are childcare centers, tutoring places (like Sylvan learning center), grocery store buletin boards, public library bulletin boards, the YMCAs, and/or speaking with local ministers and priests. Basicly, any place where children and their parents frequent.

Hope these ideas help, and I wish you well on your endeavor.

I am a paralegal who works in the family law field. I have many connections with law firms and solo's. If you send me your information, I can pass the word along. Lord knows that there are many children who would greatly benefit from this service.

Check out adult support groups like Divorce Care (you can find local meeting places on their websites) - and advertise through them. Some offer groups for kids, but most do not. Parents taking the recovery course might be interested for their children.

What about family practice doctor offices or peditritions (sp?) offices? Just a thought. They might get questions from parents I know that is where I get most of my information from. Good luck. This is something that I think a lot of children need.

Looks like you've been given some great ideas. Make sure you give info to the local school counselors so they'll have info on hand once school resumes in the fall. Have you considered an ad in the free find-it-everywhere publication Mother and Child Reunion? There website is www.motherandchildreunion.com. You've got a great idea, and good luck to you. By the way, I have a friend who's children could benefit from this. What part of the city will this be in? Thanks, and good luck to you.

lots of good ideas...so my comment is on another aspect of your request: I like CODE, but it doesn't reflect "themselves" ...anal Moms like me notice things like that! Sooo, is my obsession to detail - once again! - controlling me life? Thank goodness I can laugh at myself! I wish you Peace & Good Fortune in helping families.

I don't know where you are located, but your local churches would be a great place to take info b/c they have members seeking help and as I have experienced, sometimes no where to send them. Another excellent idea is court appointed case managers who are possibly looking for ways to help their clients. I would love to know more for my own children who've been put through a nightmare for over 2 yrs since their dad shocked me with D papers... please send me info. Thanks!

I would love to know what part of town you are in. I am going thru a very messy divorce and custody battle - I have a 6 year old and a 21 month old.

Thanks

How about checking with some churches? Our church has a divorce recovery group, but not aware of anything for children.
