These aren't prenatal vitamins.
They don't provide enough folic acid - which is needed during pregnancy - and they may provide too much vitamin A and E.
Talk to your doctor about getting some chewable prenatal vitamins.

Personally, I took prenatal vitamins that were recommended by my doctor. I am not sure children's vitamins would have the required folic acid.

Prenatal vitamins have vitamins for the baby and your body. Flintstones vitamins...not what you need.

You need to talk to your doctor about it to make sure it is an appropriate substitution for you. It is common to also take an additional folic acid in the first part of your pregnancy when you're taking a non-prenatal.

I took Flintstones Complete during both of my pregnancies, under the direction of my OB/Gyn. They agreed with me much better than prenatal vitamins, which we causing nausea, heartburn, and constipation.

Welcome to mamapedia, R..

If you are pregnant? You should be taking Pre-Natal vitamins and not children's vitamins.

Please talk with your doctor so you can take the right vitamins for you and your baby

I don't know if you're getting prenatal care from a doctor, but I hope you are. Your doctor can prescribe or suggest a good vitamin.

However, in the event that you don't have a doctor, or don't have insurance, you can walk into any pharmacy and ask a pharmacist or technician to point out the vitamins for pregnant women. A Flintstones type of vitamin won't have all the necessary vitamins and folic acid that a developing baby needs.

I agree with the others. You don't take a children's vitamin for a pregnancy. You need something different. Your doctor will talk to you about prenatal vitamins, not just a regular adult vitamin (many of which have warning labels, by the way). If that conversation hasn't happened yet (which is odd), call on Monday and talk to the doctor or nurse.

When you have a child, you don't give them commercial vitamins like this (from supermarket or "health food store") unless directed by a doctor. If you read the label, you'll see they have warnings on them even! Many pediatricians don't think they have enough nutrition in them anyway, and because they are incomplete (despite the name "Complete"), most of the nutrients aren't absorbed and are eliminated. In fact, many doctors call them "expensive urine" because so much is eliminated when they pee.

You need to be taking pregnancy vitamins with folic acid in them. Go to the pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist. He or she can tell you what vitamins are good for pregnancy. Folic acid is SO important in the very early stages of pregnancy. Lack of folic acid can cause neural tube defects like spina bifida and some forms of cleft palate.

Let me add here that the first 8 WEEKS is SO IMPORTANT to get that folic acid...

Go to the pharmacy today and talk to the pharmacist. I do not believe that Flintstones vitamins have enough folic acid...

I had so many issues tolerating prenatal vitamins that my OB had me switch to 2 Flinstone Complete vitamins each day. But this is something that you really need to talk to your OB about.
