Someone suggested emu oil (health foos store) to me and iam sooo glad they did. I didn't want to keep using any kinda of steroid cream (which seemed like the only thing tht gave her any relief). It works wonders...lil scaley patch dissapears and scratching stops within 2 days of use. Hope tht helps.

Hi. When my baby had what looked like a severe case of baby acne, the doctor suggested an over the counter hydrocortisone cream. We only used to spot treat the worst parts - where the acne had spread making it one big patch. The cortisone does thin the skin so we really tried to limit use. Aveeno baby products are safe and gentle to use daily and works wonders!

We used Aveeno for tub time and when using moisturizers. My daughter uses Aquaphor on her son.

Hi N.,

Renew lotion is great for red and patchy skin, even on the face, and is safe for infants. It can also be used as a diaper cream. I have clinical test information. If you'd like to see it, let me know.

Yes, I had two kids with it as babies. First piece of alvise, switch to Dove soap, either the bar or the lotion. If a lot of the body is covered with it use Aveeno oatmeal baths. It will soothe the skin and relieve the itching. Cortisone ointment and use Aveeno brand lotions with the oatmeal in it to soothe. Also, use only cotton clothing next to the body. Be warned that eczema in a baby is probably a foreshadow of future or present allergies. Also make sure that you wash any bedding and clothing with one of the washing solutions that has no dyes, perfumes, etc. Be wary of any perfumed dryer sheets etc. Also, see if you can identify any other cause besides skin contact irritants, like diet or weather, humidity, animals in the house, etc. Good luck.

vasoline makes it worse and so do most lotions that contain wax.
we discovered it was food allergies and when we completely cut it out (there was alot and it was a challenge). the eczema completely went away. both dr's couldn't believe the difference, he looked like a new kid (he almost looked like a burn victim it was so bad at first)
good luck!

honey is the best with a bit of coconut oil. Very healing to the skin used for burns on children in war areas.

As always, check w/ the Dr. Both my kids had it young and still at 2yrs sometimes. I use cetaphil (tub), Aquaphor - and when it's bad (on the legs) a prescription steriod cream. It can be a sign of food allergies, but not always.

My doctor gave us a sample of some oil called DermaSmooth. Worked wonders! I use Aquaphor on a regular basis. I still use the DermaSmooth every once in a while when my baby's skin gets irritated.

Aveeno oatmeal bath, other then that you need to see your pediatrician/ dermatologist because no over the counter meds will take it away. you need a prescription. My sister has has eczema all her life and my husband has psoriasis, the only difference is eczema is on the folds of the skin and psoriasis is on the knees and elbows on the outside. Hope that helps.

I use a product called "Renew". You can't get it at a store. The only difference with this lotion is that it has Melaleuca in it. You could probably add Melaleuca in the stuff you use on your son now. To order this Renew lotion, go to WWW.melaleuca.com
My daughter has a form of Eczema, I started using this product and the redness clearded up really fast. Good luck!

My daughter has eczema and they tried to give us steroid creams, but I didn't want to rub steroids all over her skin. We switched all of our cleaning, laundry, and personal care products to non-toxic ones from Shaklee. I also started her on a chewable omega supplement from them. She hasn't had a breakout in over 1yr. Shaklee is the #1 natural nutrition company in the U.S. and has been around for over 50yrs. They have a trusted reputation for safety, purity, and efficacy and offer a 100% guarantee. My daughter has the same problem. She's now almost three and it has cleard up quite a bit but she still gets it one one hand and the top of one foot. Try a bath in warm-ish water every third day, and use a gentle lotion like Aveeno baby (not the lavender, just regular oatmeal) at night before bed and in the morning. Also, if there are spots that are worse than others you can ask your pediatrician to prescribe a 1.5 or a 2% hydrocortisone cream. Its slightly stronger than the over the counter stuff so you have to use it sparingly but it should help. He will most likely outgrow it like my daughter did but it might mean he's more prone to allergies so look out for symptoms of milk intolerance as he gets older or see if his eczema flares after eating certain foods. Good luck!

How old is he? Is it on his face? Whatever you do, do not use steroid creams on the face. Try Eucerine with Vasoline over it. Also, eczema is an indicator of food allergies. My son has anaphylaxis to seven foods, and his eczema is severe.

Do you know what is causing it? How old is your son?

Most kids with eczema have food allergies and the top five are dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, corn. Removing the allergen will help to stop the inflammation from the inside. For the outside, I became a Sensaria Natural Bodycare representative because of the huge results my daughter had with using the products and since then I cannot even begin to tell you of the results with all of the people that have had eczema, psoriasis, sensitivities to most products just from switching their soaps to Sensaria's body washes, not using even Eucerin and Avenno but our lotions. There is no petroleum in Sensaria's products and that is very important for these issues. There are no harsh cleansers like sodium laurel sulfates. Essential oils and plant extracts instead of synthetic perfumes. And a one-year guarantee.

Let me know if you would like more information and go to my website to check it out. Sensaria even lists EVERY ingredient, even under 2%. Most companies do not because it is not required, yet.

How old is your son? You say infant , are we talking under 2??? Creams like Eucerin are for ages 2+ so I would go to the Doctor first and see what they suggest to use , they may well advise Eucerin but in different amounts.

N. - I have some good experience with my niece & nephew, but my GF, Pam has the MOST incredible story!

I have known her since we were 4 yo and she suffered from eczema as an adult for more than 10 years! She found something that made it go AWAY in 3 weeks! I have never seen anything like it!

Now I am guessing that your son is not as severe, but the trick to eczema is to get it gone ASAP, then it is more easily controlled...

Pam's before and after pictures can be seen on her website:

www.moxoffice.com and even her blog...

The best part, is that with this supplement, I have been able to control several different ailments as well...(depression, high blood pressure and cholesterol)!

Let me know if you want more info! it WILL help!

Not sure what age your son is but my husband has a history of eczema as do my children have episodes of it. Derm. turned us on to CeraVe lotion which we are now hooked on as a morning routine. It is available over the counter(CVC). I don't have a problems with Eczema but love the way it leaves my face. For my 2 yr. old I've tried the Mustela Products they work good also.

Because you said any advice would be great, I am assuming that you would like all advice. I know of a grown man that had bleeding exzema and was on steroids for 17 years that is now completely over it and off of steroids and is drug free. If you would like to watch the same DVD that he watched, let me know. God Bless! J.

If it's red and patchy, you should probably see a dr. for a prescription strength hydrocortisone cream. That's what I had to do when my 6-month-old son broke out after eating peaches for the first time. I also like to use the Aveno Oatmeal bath packets and cetaphil cream in the tub for after bath. Now that I know what he's alergic to (tree nuts now that he's 3) it's a lot easier to keep the eczema under control. Good luck.

We used Aveeno for bath and moisturizing when my son was an infant. We've kept it up (he's 18 months) and the eczema has not returned. Note -my son's doctor told us that cream is different and better than lotion. Lotion tends to evaporate quickly and take more moisture with it when it does. Cream is more expensive, but worked like a charm.
