I am looking for a little piece of mind and some knowledge. My cycle runs 27-28 days like clockwork, even down to the type of flow I have. AF due date 11/30. On 11/28 I noticed a brownish discharge throughout the day and also on the 29th. 11/30 it seemed like AF started like normal but by the end of the day I noticed it was pretty light. 11/30-12/4 very spotty bleeding mostly brownish or pink in color. The weekend of 11/28-29 I started having some nausea that lasted until 12/5. 12/4 the nausea was so bad at lunch time I went and took a pregnancy test and it came up positive (digital so no interpretation error). That night I took another and it was negative. The next morning I took another and it was negative. 12/5 I took another test at lunch time and it was positive. So I took another a few hours later and it was negative. After some calculation I realized that at most I would only be about 15-20 days pregnant. I stopped taking urine tests as they are iffy at this stage and have a blood test scheduled for Wed. My concern is yesterday I noticed some pink bloody discharge twice and now today am much more crampy and the flow is more moderate. Is this a bad sign? Was this past week implantation bleeding? And now I'll have a bit of a period? Any input would help me greatly. I'm just so confused.....and going a little crazy. Thank you.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the responses. At this point it is still a waiting game. Had hcg ran on Monday (positive range but not too high). Dr. appt on Tuesday was very inconclusive. More blood tests taken today and another hcg and progesterone to see if they are rising. Ultrasound scheduled for next week. So still no answers. No more bleeding though so thats good. Hoping for the best.

I am going through the same thing, except without the moderate flow and I haven't taken any tests yet. From everything I have read, it sounds like implantation bleeding, which is a shocker for me since I have been on the pill for 7 months!
Anyway, let us know what you find out...

You are probably fine but please see a dr. It sounds like some sypmtoms I had with an ectopic pregnancy. See a doctor to rule it out to avoid an emergency.

The different test answers are very strange..... However, I've had 4 miscarriages and that type of flow with cramping are usually not good signs. I would call you doc and get in tomorrow for an ultrasound. Then you will have your answers. Best wishes to you.

I agree that your doctor will best be able to determine what is going on. Implantation bleeding is a spot at most, not as much as you are having. I have had two early miscarriages, also. They are very common. Sorry...

It is probably too early to get all the results positive because your pregnancy hormone levels are probably quite low yet, good thing that you are going to see your Dr.
I've had some bleeding, too,at the beginning, and am 21 weeks pregnant right now, don't worry, your OB will tell you what's going on,don't stress yourself out!Good luck!

I'd just wait for the blood test, cause honestly, it could go either way, as it's so early. The lab will be able to look at your levels and tell you what's happening according to the count. (Been there, done that) This early in the game, if something didn't set up right initially, your body will be cleaning up and starting to prepare to try again next next time (I was able to get pregnant again the next month, and everything went great) Not saying that's what is going on, just a possibility. Also, Sometimes people will have what looks like a light period all the way through their pregnancy, or just for the first trimester. So hang in there til wednesday! best wishes!

It could have been implantation bleeding, or just what they call breakthrough bleeding. Pregnancy tests are iffy at this time, but if you got one positive result, and then a negative, the negative was most likely because there wasn't enought of the hormone concentrated in your urine to show up. It's a good thing you stopped taking them. Just wait for your blood test, and take it easy until then. Make sure you let your doctor know your concerns about the cramping/spotting. If it gets worse, you may be having an early miscarriage - and at this point there is nothing to be done about it. I certainly hope that is not the case!
Good luck to you!

This sounds a lot like me two months ago. I am 23 days, like clockwork, and I was late. I had had implant cramping, and a couple weeks went by...and then I spotted for two days, after about 2 weeks of pregnancy symptoms...and then my "period" started, over a week late, in earnest, and I'm pretty sure I had an early miscarriage. I never tested, because my husband is kinda a cheapskate sometimes... :) but I've been pregnant three times before; I suspect I was pregnant that time, too. I hope things go well for you; I'm sorry I don't have more peace of mind to offer you.

Sounds like you may have been pg and are now experiencing a very early miscarriage...but I could be wrong. Lots of women experience bleeding while pregnant. Glad you have a blood test scheduled so you know for sure. Good luck!!!

It's really hard to tell what is going on. You could be miscarrying or you could just be having some implantation bleeding. Some women bleed in their 1st trimester and it can be okay. I think you should call your doctor and tell them you're bleeding and you want to get in today to find out what is going on. I wouldn't wait until Wednesday. You're going through a lot of anguish and you need some information and comfort!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I will pray for a positive outcome for you. Have a miscarriage is very hard. It's happened to me twice.

Different outcomes on the tests could be from different times of the day (best in morning). It could also be the sensitivity of the test. Very rarely is a positive wrong but very often a negative is. At this point if you are going to miscarry there is not much anyone can do (unfortunately). It is normal to have all those signs and still have a healthy pregnancy. Are you still feeling nauseous? That too is a good sign. I had fairly heavy red bleeding with my first born. The u/s just showed a little pocket of whatever that had attached the same time as him and it was just emptying out.
All this to say calm down, stop worrying, call you doctor (if you don't like what he tells you), call another one for a second opinion! My friend was miscarrying and the doctor totally dismissed her but she wanted peace of mind so she found one who would be there for her.
Sorry no hard answers.

Hello M.!
I will pray for you... but you may be going through your period. My Natural Family Planning nurse told me to take my Preg. test 16 days after my peak if I did not have my period on my scheduled day. I started out like this too and then I got my period too. I misscarried at 8 weeks but have had two other beautiful girls! If you are crampy and have a lot of show... then you are probably having a period. If it stayed brownish to light pink and just a spot then it would most likely be Implantation bleeding.
This is what I have learned. Then just pray... it is hard.. and painful too.
You are in my prayers. It is stressful the what ifs and especially if you have felt sick too. I had that also!
I hope you are better!

I've had lots of problems trying to conceive. I've had 5 miscarriages. BUT I've also had 3 healthy children. One just last week for that matter.

Anyways based upon what you are saying it could be a miscarriage or it could just be normal bleeding. Pregnancy tests can usually detect HCG at levels of 25 all the way to 100. So as you'd guess it depends on the brand you have, how concentrated your urine is when you take it, lots of thing as to whether you get a positive or negative.

This site is great for pregnancy test information, how accurate they are.. etc. peeonastick.com

Plus 50% of bleeding I've been told time and time again can still mean a healthy pregnancy. Although usually most think that red blood means miscarriage that isn't always the case either. With the baby I just had... I had bleeding from week 6 to week 20 something. Every time I'd go in there he'd be with a heartbeat. So it doesn't mean the end all.

Anyways at this point you need to go in Wednesday and get a quantitive HCG done. I'd go back in 2 or 3 days and get another one done. That way you will know if it's increasing or falling. If it's falling most of the time that is a good indicator of a miscarriage. If it's doubling so far so good. At 6 weeks pregnant they can do an ultrasound and usually see something and with me I've always gotten a heartbeat on my sucessful ones. If you see a heartbeat at this point it's a great sign that things will be great.

But at this point it could go either way. You have signs of miscarriage but that doens't necessarily mean you'll have one. So I think you should just try and stay calm and go to your appointment on Wednesday and get the blood work done. Hopefully everything will come back ok. I know how hard it is to sit here and wait but unfortunately that is all that is going to tell you at this point. I wish you the best of luck! I hope your HCG is doubling.

I would immediately call your doctor! Ask if there's any way you can be seen today, express your concerns! I know some women have light to normal periods throughout their entire pregnancy, but other times it could be signs of trouble. Don't risk it, call now!!

Call your doctor. You shouldn't have a moderate flow. I'd disregard the negative pregnancy tests, because if you were drinking too much fluid it would have diluted the test, causing it to be negative (or if you didn't do it exactly right). I'm a little worried about miscarriage since you have a moderate flow and cramping. I think you need to call your doctor and talk to him/her.

It could be implantation bleeding or you could just have a blighted ovum response. False positive. I guess the question is are you trying to get pregnant? Sometimes that blighted ovum thing happens... ALOT... With the pee tests so sensitive you could get a false positive.

The best time to take them is first thing in the morning when your hormone level... IF you are pregnant is at its highest.
When I was pregnant with my first child I took three morning pregnancy tests when I was a week late, when I was two weeks late and when I was three weeks late... They all said I wasn't pregnant. Guess what? I went to the doctor a week after my third false negative and they did a blood test and the doctor assured me that I probably was not pregnant... Guess what that probably is now 14 years old. But do not worry if you are spotty it could be implantation and if you have other symptoms of pregnancy, Nausea, vomiting, indegestion, diarehha and you are peeing all the time because you feel like something is sitting on your bladder you could be pregnant. Best wishes with your test on Wed?
