Oh my gosh! I'm working on one right now. I have had Mac laptops since the mid-90s and LOVE them! Drove our computer techie guys crazy at work because both my boss and I always insisted on using a Mac rather than PCs. Fortunately these days many more programs are cross-platform, so finding Mac-compatible software is not the problem it once was.
Pros - Easy to use, few-to-none slowdowns, freezes, compatibility issues or upgrade issues. Great for integrating with your iPad, iPod or whatever, if you have. Fun! Rugged - I actually dropped one once, put a huge dent in the side, and it continued to work for another two years thereafter.
Cons - Price, of course. Also, this summer I had my first processing glitch in years. It wasn't a virus, but somehow data was self-replicating itself in some kind of continuous loop and eating up all the memory until there was none left. My heart just sank when I started it up and only got the blue screen. I hadn't backed up my data in months - oops! Anyway, I took it into a reputable repair shop and $250 later had all my old data back plus a new 500 gig hard drive. So, I guess the lesson is to always back up your data, PC or Mac.
Good luck - I think you're going to love it!
