Hi Mamas,
My daughter will be turning 2 next week and my family is coming to celebrate with us and they want to go out to eat and for the life of me I can't think of any place to go. I want it to be fun for her since it's her birthday but I also want it to be fun for the adults. We live in Naperville but we can travel to neighboring towns if we have to. Would love to hear any suggestions you might have. Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

If you go earlier in the evening a majority of placed downtown are kid friendly. The new Rosebud is geared towards families, Bar Louie has lots of families earlier in the evening. You could also check out Heaven on Seven, Front Street Cantina or Ted's Montana Grill.

We like to go to Heaven on Seven. They have a kids menu. It's loud and noisy which can be good or not depending on your kid. Chinns on 34th is fun too and they take reservations and can put you in the back room where she can walk around if you get desperate.

We went to Ted's Montana Grill and had a bad experience there. They tried to squeeze all of us in a booth. That would work if it was a big booth, but it was a regular booth meant for 4 and there's 6 of us and my older boys are pretty big.

Go to yelp.com and read some reviews there. That would be helpful.

You could also try Key Wester Fish & Pasta House on Rt. 59 in Naperville. My kids love to go there to look at the fish tanks. You could request to be in the Waterfall Room, which is always a big hit with my kids. Wherever you end up, have fun celebrating!

Some kind of japanese steak house might be fun. The cook prepares the food right at the hot grill in front of you and does little tricks to entertain everyone. Don't know of any specific ones in Naperville because I am not from there, but maybe you can google it.

This may not be exactly what you are looking for but I thought I would mention it.

What about Red Robin? Its kid friend and a good selection for adults too. Not exactly fine dining but it certainly works with kids.

Although we haven't yet been there, I understand that Rosebud has just reopened and has changed its menu to be more family friendly. They are now called Rosebud Burgers and Comfort Food (or something like that). There's also Giordano's and Lou Malnati's which are great family pizza places. Eventhough it's not real fancy, The Colonial is always a great place to take kids.
