Hi J.,
I have been doing laser hair removal since the summer. It has been great. Well worth the money. I am having my bikini area and underarms done. It is SO NICE to have smooth, hairless skin all the time. I have not found it to be painful.
I go to Dawn at Duncanville Laser. I can't remember the exact name, but it starts with Duncanville and is right off Main St.

I work part time for a doctor in carrolton and he opened up a fit & beautiful as part of his family practice clinic. They have really good deals going on ###-###-####. They have both laser hair removal and weight loss under doctors care. Several of my coworkers and their family members have rave reviews.

I agree with Adrianne, although I have never used the laser hair removal as I have been told the laser will not pick up blonde/light hair. My daughter graduated from Cosmetology school and waxes my legs about every 6 weeks and my underarms about every 3 weeks. Since I started waxing (less than 2 years ago), I have not shaved at all. It will bring your hair to grow back normally. My hair grows in very thin now and doesn't even grown in some areas on my legs, so I totally recommend waxing vs shaving.

Good morning J.:
I am currently a laser hair removal client and I am loving the results. I too had alot of dark hair and as a result I have been receiving treatments for two and a half years. For the first two years I went every ten weeks and after that I go every two to two and half months for my treatments. It is a slow process for me but well worth it. I financed mine through Care Credit and I hear Chase Health is another wonderful alternative to finance this. Laser hair removal is VERY permanent and America Laser Centers guarantees it! You will keep going until no hair grows back. I very rarely have to shave now and I love it! It is wonderful! You might hear negative stories but every individual is different. I can tell you from my own personal experience it is working for me! Some people wax and if that is the route you go you will be doing that for the rest of your life and quite personally where I am having the hair removal done I will not waste my time as it is a defeated purpose. If you have any questions for me feel free to respond back.

Sincerely,
A. C in Canyon, Texas

I was told by the lady that waxes my eyebrows that the more you wax, the finer your hair becomes. This works because it damages your roots. Also after you wax a couple times in a row(which maybe over a couple months) it will take your hair longer to grow back with each time you wax. I have just done my second waxing on my legs in the winter so leg hair can get a little long to wax, and very hopeful. After the next time I should be hair free for the summer. Not to mention that waxing is way cheaper than the laser treatments. I toyed with the idea of laser treatments but read that it is not permanent, so why do it if you are going to have to do it again. It seems like it would be the same to just wax and a whole lot cheaper.

i actually own a laser and perform the treatments. I have not shaved my legs for 3 years, it's so great if you struggle with dark coarse hair. I do touch mine up before summer as there are a few strays here and there. My underarms didn't work like my legs, but I don't have that dark shadow that I had in the past.

The best candidate for laser has dark coarse hair. It hurts, and you need 4-6 treatments for best long term results. I let my clients pay as they go. Some are happy with 1-2 treatments just to get a reduction. I don't make you lock in unless you want to.

You will get relief from shaving immediately.
I'm in McKinney if I can help you.

I have had my underarms lasered and my bikini area. I love the results. I only did 5 treatments on my underarms instead of the recommended 6 and still have a small amount of hair growth but only shave once every 2 weeks. I still have 3 treatments left on the bikini area but have seen dramatic results. I still have to wax my lip and chin because the hair is not dark enough there but would have them lasered in a heartbeat if new technology was developed.

As has been the experience of many of the women who posted here, my hair removal was not permanent. And I have the hair/skin combination that's supposed to be ideal for laser removal (dark hair/light skin). Additionally, even with a full package purchase and many, many additional treatments, my hair was never all gone. It took quite a while for it to grow back, but it did grow back. I'll be returning to waxing!

J.,

I work at a doctor office that done the laser hair removal. I have to be honest that I would save my money if I was you. I received 5 treatments and my hair still came back. It is NOT permanent. Your hair will return. Save your money!!!

I had full legs done 2 years ago and LOVE IT! It was the best thing I have ever done. Like you, I had to shave everyday due to dark hair. AFter really researching and watching specials I jumped on a deal at a new salon and never looked back.

Legs were not more painful that a leg waxing. Whatever small amount of pain there might be is TOTALLY worth it to be almost hair free.

If you can save your penny's towards this - it is the best invemtment I have ever made in myself. Do be warned that it is not forever. The average life span of being almost hair free is approx 8 years. Still worth it in my opinion!

Good luck.

First of all, nothing is permanent, despite what they tell you. I am an avid waxer, which lasts much longer than shaving. I've been waxing for >10 years. Lasering was very similiar for me - the hair on my legs grew back very faint, sparse and fine for several months (just like when you wax). However, the more you shaved your legs, the more normal your hair became. After a few months, I was back at square one. I only had 2 treatments. If I shave my legs in the morning, the next morning I have razoe stubble like a man. Waxing is much cheaper. Good luck.

I have had several different types of laser removal and the best that I have found is Smooth Solutions. I'm pretty sure you can go to their site, but they are all around great. The price is ridiculously low, they have specials going each month, for a different part of the body. They are very through as well. I got a Brazilian done there and they did EVERYTHING!!! I went and had a brazilian done at two other places and they were no where at through as Smooth Solutions. They do not accept tips there either. I does hurt a little but it is over quickly, It beats having to shave so much!!

The results you will get with laser hair removal are dependent on many variables. The way that laser hair removal works is that the laser light is targeted to pigment cells. The energy is imparted to the pigment cells and causes them to explode, thus killing the hair follicle, the part that grows the hair shaft, the part that you see. Laser hair removal only works for dark hair and works best on light skin because the energy is imparted to the hair only and not the skin. The laser does not know the difference between pigment in the hair and pigment in the skin. The laser will also only target hair that is actively growing. At any one time, there is a certain amount of hair that is growing and a certain amount which is dormant. Therefore, multiple treatments are needed to catch hair while it is growing. There are also several different lasers which are used for hair removal and different energy levels which can be programmed into the lasers. One of the best lasers for hair removal is the diode laser. Unfortunately, there is not much other use for the diode laser. IPL systems have been used for laser hair removal with mixed results. The amount of energy which is imparted is also important as the more energy imparted, the more follicles which will be damaged but the higher risk for burn. As you can see, there are many variables in hair removal which will effect the final outcome. I would highly suggest visiting a hair removal center overseen by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Meet with the physician and be sure that the settings used for your hair removal are adequate for your goals. Unfortunately, in the final analysis, there are not guarantees.

Be well,

Hey J.,
I did underarm and bikini line several years ago and I did lower legs a couple of years ago. I have dark hair and used to shave daily also. I would also be able to see the dark hair roots right after I shaved so even though it was smooth it didn't look completely shaved! I would do it a hundred times over! SOOOO worth it! I still shave but not nearly as often and the hair is much finer and lighter.
