Leaking Night Diapers with Absorbing Crystals!

We tried Huggies brand and had to change clothes as well as diapers with both my kids. We used the Pampers Swaddlers while they were small enough, then kept on with the Cruisers.

A few times there were problems with diaper being filled to capacity and not holding any more. When that happened we made some changes. 1) We moved up to the next bigger size diaper regardless of what the weight said on the package. 2) We started changing the diaper one more time right before cuddles and bed time. These seemed to help us.

I didn't have any issues with diapers falling off in the night, but we certainly had absorbancy issues. What finally worked was Huggies Leak Lock diapers. I would try those and using the same size as you do during the day, as the bigger size might be what is causing them to fall off. You shouldn't have to go bigger for absorbancy. Is your son wearing pyjamas or a sleeper? I find that if my son doesn't wear something over his diaper, it is more likely to come off...

I have found that pampers have those crystals and they gross me out. I use Huggies in the red pack, gentle care or natural care depending on the size. I use Huggies Overnights at night and don't get any leaks or crystals.

Cloth diapers three at a time and a plastic cover. (get diaper service.) Worked for me until my son was four.

Nearly all brands of diapers these days have those crystals. To the best of my knowledge they're inert and pass right through (eewwww). They're used in gardening a lot also to keep water in the soil (one tablespoon of them absorbs about 2+ cups of water, if given enough time). If you're super concerned about the crystals, probably the only real option would be cloth diapers (3up + the plastic shorts over). I have to admit, I researched the crystals about 8 years ago, and have no recollection as to what I found...meaning it didn't set of any alarms bells but I have no memory of the results either.

We found that Huggies Overnights worked the best for us. (Diaper Service was too expensive for us at the time and I was NOT boiling diapers on my stove. We had a tiny apartment, and the smell!!)

However, our son had a very large bladder, so right before I went to bed I would always change him into a new one regardless. It DID do wonders for his sleep...he can briefly awake and fall back to sleep like nobody's business. If his diaper was dry when I went to change him (started around 8 months, with the first *hints* of bladder control)I'd wake him up a little more, ask him to pee, and then touch VERY gently on his distended bladder. He would, I'd change him, and *poof* back to dreamland.

<grinning> It's fun the things we remember. I'd forgotten all about that until you asked your question. But for a year, every night, I was on pee-patrol as the last thing I did before sleep.

Hi T.- I noticed that when I used Pampers my son had those "crystal" things also. I switched to Huggies. I used them all the time for my first son as well as my second. At night they have a more absorbant kind (although I never had the need to use those, as you apparently will need to) that I would assume works even better. Store brand never worked for me, as my children would leak after one pee (they both are every four to five hour BIG pee-ers, lucky me) and luvs were out as well. So, I would swear on Huggies. You can try Huggies Overnights (not sure if Pampers has something similar - we switched my son to huggies once he outgrew the swaddler diaper from Pampers - found that they worked better for him), or they make diaper doublers, which is essentially a pad that goes into the diaper and acts as a liner but increases absorbancy.

You're probably going to hate hearing this but with my oldest, I actually changed her diaper in the middle of the night. Otherwise she always leaked. Since she always woke at least once to feed, I just did it when she was up anyway and after nursing and/or the bottle she went straight back to sleep.

It was a long time ago, but try Huggies, I always preferred those. Try the overnight type. Or check and change your child more often. I think there are also some disposable diaper inserts you can add for more absorbency, or even try adding a pad like "poise". Whatever works.

Huggies Overnights 1 size bigger than my daughter wears for daytime. Love pampers cruisers for daytime, but pampers "dry" always leaked at night for us.
