I'm desperate for an answer that works here. My one year old is on some medication that causes "excessive urination" and boy is that an understatement! He has been waking up at about 5-5:30 every morning because he has completely soaked through his diaper (and his clothes and the sheet). By the time I change his clothes and his bedding, he is wide awake (although extremely crabby) and there is no getting him back to sleep. I'm exhausted! I have tried going up a size in normal diapers and I have also bought the "Baby Dry" nighttime diapers and they still leak! I change his diaper RIGHT before bed too and I really don't want to wake him up before I go to bed to change him for fear he won't go back to sleep then.
Getting up this early is throwing off his whole schedule. Does anyone have any other tricks I might be able to try to keep this from happening? I have heard of something called a "diaper doubler" in the past, but haven't ever seen it in the stores and don't know exactly what it is. Any help is appreciated. We all need some more sleep! Thanks!
I highly suggest the pull-up over the diaper at night as well. We used a regular diaper with a pull-up over before we found out about night diapers (my son never appeared uncomfortable and slept through the night). Pampers has started to make a night diaper as well (Huggies has been making one for quite some time) and I prefer those for my son. The combination of the two I hope does the trick for you.
We use Huggies Goodnights with our 19 month old and they seem to work pretty well. Hang in there. I know you must be frustrated.
Get a package of super maxi pads (long if they have them) and put one in the diaper. Then, for additional protection, add a cloth diaper cover (you can get some at www.diaperswappers.com used and cheap or from The Young and The Restless in the Heights or buy the old fashioned Gerber plastic pants at Babies R Us.)
Put on a pull up over the diaper, two sizes bigger than normal!
