Hello does anyone have any local vacation ideas (local Washington/Oregon area) that they would recommend for a 2-3 day get away with kids? I've heard that the Oregon coast is awesome, any other ideas?

What can I do next?

Hi T.,
With that age range, I'd say Seaside. I've been about 20+ times in my life. It has something for everyone and is fun. Very busy in the summer. Also, I've heard the San Juan Islands are fun, too, but have never been. Good luck and have a great summer! =0)

me and my boyfriend really enjoy ocean shores. long beach and westport are nice as well. I think long beach would be the best for kids out of the 3. They just have a lot of interesting things to see. I've heard seaside oregon is nice, but i've never been there.

Lincoln City is really nice and has vacation rental homes there that you can stay in. ( OREGON) Some times we just go to any place an hour or so away and do tourist stuff. (fishing, going to the park and any activities they have going on)

There is also a water park @ a new lodge in Centrailia area.

Hello T.,
Last year I took my daughter who was 3 at the time, and her aunt 10, to Seaside Oregon. We had an AWESOME time. My in-laws joined us as well. There was something for us to do everyday. The girls stayed entertained, me being 24 at the time, stayed entertained as well as my in-laws. There is a small aquarium there, the beach is BEAUTIFUL, there is an arcade with bumper cars, and tons of shopping. I learned how to fly a two handle kite :) It was great!! One of the best vacations I have had. We were only gone for 3 days but, there was enough to keep us busy the entire time. My daughter has been asking me when am I going to take her to the "sea" again..lol. It's only a 4 hour drive but, it is well worth it!! I had been to Ocean Shores before but, I think Seaside is a much better place. It seems bigger with more to do. I have plans of doing it again this year and taking my mother along for the trip and another good friend of mine who has a little girl the same age as my daughter. A girl's weekend :)

Every August since I was in about seventh grade my best friend and Her family and I would go to to Long beach Washington. We would stay at this hotel called the chitagwua..(?) which had trails out to the beack and places for you to have bin fires on the beach...It is beautiful and just a little out of town there is a light house you can go up into and during a certain time of the summer they have a kite flying festival which is sooooo much fun. There is the rest. called Doogers that has the best food ever. And in town there are shops and go-karts and and a arcade and all sorts of stuff fort he family to do. If you want to be a little more out doors there is one of those camp grounds that you pay to stay and I think they have a curfew for lights out for volume and stuff like that but if you RV they have hookups for electricity and stuff it is a nice park...So that is my little heaven away from home...and you drive through this little see twon just out side of the city of Raymond?montessano and it is just the cutest little place diffinitly worth stopping for some pictures!! and it is only about two hours from seattle?tacoma..I am not sure where you are located but not too bad a drive when traveling with youngsters....

Our family loved Breitenbush Hot Springs, near Salem, OR. You can camp there or rent a cabin. It comes with 3 buffet style meals of very high quality, and soaks in the hot and cold pools of varying (and posted) temperatures. It also comes with free events that vary each week, such as yoga or dance classes, concertsm etc.

The facility is very earth-friendly. They use 100% renewable energy from hydropower and geothermal including geothermally heated cabins.

Our family stayed 2 night but wished we had booked for at least 3! Very relaxing and fun, and we made friendships with other families with children which have continued!

Yes recommend to go to Oregon Coast. Seaside has shopping, aquarium, walk trail. There is good for children. Lincoln City is factory outlet shopping and restaurants/hotels. Newport is good seafood restaurant and view the bridge. There have aquarium, too. Nice state park for rv or camping in newport. Florence is huge dune to rent baja or tourist vehicle on the dune also drive north of Florence. There have sea lions. Its good for tourists to go to sea lions cave. I have been gonna there all in my life. I still love it to go there.

Hello T.,
The beach is always great, there's Sol Duc hot springs - lots of hiking and waterfalls, etc. There is also The Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA. It's an indoor waterpark and your tickets to the water park are included in the price of your room. I haven't been there but am planning to go this summer.
It sounds like fun. They have a website: www.greatwolflodge.com
It might be fun for both of your children.
Have a wonderful time on vacation!
