Looking for a Baby Monitor.. in Need of Suggestions! Thanks!

My son is due in September and my daughter is almost two. I know that most of you would probably think that I'm crazy for wanting a monitor for my 2 year old, but what can I say, I'm a spaz (that, and her new room will be way down the hall from ours). We are also waiting to put her into a toddler bed for awhile. I just don't think that she's quite ready (has never once tried climbing out of her crib). Anyway, this is what I am ultimately looking for and haven't been able to find it. I would like a color 7+" stationary monitor, plus the small hand held monitor with two cameras (that are able to pan/tilt/zoom from the hand held). Also, I need the feature that the hand held will actually automatically switch from one camera to the other (for night-time). Does anyone know where I can find a package deal like this or maybe buy them separately but so that they'll still work together? Let me know! Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

I would look on line and read what parents wrote to see the good ones! Also if you have not heard there is one with a heart monitor goes under the mattress so you have an alarm if he does stop breathing. (For the new baby boy)

I too use a video monitor and I have a 4.5, 22 month and 7 month old kids. I love being able to check in visually without having to walk in or disrupt them.

We LOVE our monitors - 2 cameras + monitor. It is called BébéSounds Portable Color Video and Sound Monitor. We got ours from Amazon.com. It says color but it is not a color like you would expect to see on TV. But the picture is VERY clear. I know others have posted there was interference - we have none and I think it depends upon where it is and how close it is to other things that might interfer unfortunately.

After a couple of months we started to have an issue with one monitors (went black from time to time) and we called the manufacturer and they sent a replacement asap - no questions asked. Their customer service was amazing and unbeatable. Since then we have bought a third camera and a second monitor (only 2 cameras work at a time but we will turn off the camera for our oldest during the day and turn on the thrid for the baby).

They do make a bigger color flat panel screen but we really like the smaller portable unit.

I do recommend highly.

I don't know if you are going to find what you are looking for, but if you have to settle for something less, I have had great luck with the Graco brand that as two moniters and two receivers. This has worked better than both of the other moniters I bought for my first child. It switches between the two rooms at predetermined intervals.

Good luck and congrats!

I plan on using a video monitor for my 2 1/2 year old for years yet. Plus, it's a godsend when she's sick. I'm due in Sept., so we just bought the Summer flat screen color 7" monitor with 2 cameras. Word of warning - it's only in color when there is light in the room. If it's dark - you get black and white. I love it though. I don't have the handheld monitor, we just take the 7" monitor into whatever room we're in. It's extremely light weight and a breeze to move around. If you go to Summer's website, you can see all their options. I think it is www.summerinfant.com

You are so NOT crazy! I have the same situation. Here's my favorite tip (my husband thinks I'm weird for being so excited about this!). I don't know if you already have a monitor for your daugther, but we already had the Summer video monitor for my oldest son. I also looked at finding what you are looking for. I did find some, but I ended up buying another Summer video monitor for son #2 because I couldn't pass up a really good sale. I figured I'd just have 2 separate monitors. However, the monitor (and most monitors) has 2 different channels. If I set son #1's monitor to channel A and son #2's monitor to channel B, then I can just flip my switch on my ONE receiver from A to B during the night and see both of them. Does that make sense? So, I have 2 identical monitors (2 cameras/2 receivers), but I set them on opposite channels and can see/hear both kids on the same receiver by switching the switch between channels. Then we just use the extra receiver out in the living room or wherever. Just thought it might save you some money if you already have 1 monitor because the 2 camera models I saw were quite expensive.

I can't say about the monitor but I just wanted to say, Don't worry about having the monitor on your 2 year 0ld.... My son is 4 and I still don't feel comfortable getting rid of the monitor as his bedroom is upstairs and ours is downstairs. If you don't feel comfortable getting rid of it, don't!
