I am looking for a birthday party idea for my 4 yr old on the Upper East Side of Manhattan that won't break the bank! Last yr I had it at Pizzeria Uno. The kids made their own indiv pizza's and then their own ice creams. It was really cute and if I can't come up with anything else, I am thinking about repeating last yr.
Thanks for any input.

The Monterey Sports Club is fairly reasonable too. You can rent the pool for up to 30 people and a nearby yoga room for food. It's on 96th St. I can't decide if the parents would think the swimming part was fun or annoying though?

I looked up and got $660 for 10 kids at the Central Park Zoo for a party with pizza. The lower amount must just be for the entrance fee? If so, I think Uno's is better since you will have food and a party area for everyone at the party?

I also heard the Marionette Theater in Central Park does parties. The puppet shows are good for 4 year olds - I am not sure what the room rental/food costs would be.

I always thought that a tea party at your house is something enexpensive and fun. Have all the kids dress up and make your daughter a part of the festivities. Have her host, let you know where the kids should sit. Decorate the room to look like alice in wonderland or something like that.

Hi!

Not sure what your budget is but if $400 (for 15 kids) is reasonable, you can have a party at the Central Park Zoo. You can go to their website to view the brochure. Fun & educational but they don't include pizza/cake.

Good luck!

A great idea would be to paint your own pottery at MAKE. theres one on Second avenue between 81 and 82. Look it up at www.makemeaning.com. Enjoy
Its great for 4 yr olds.

Build A bear Workshop on 45th street and sixth avenue. you can do a wonderful floor party where you cover the cost of the bear for all your party guests (10-12 children) for less than $125 including tax! Inform the guests that "they will receive a bear of their choice to fill with love and clothing is an additional cost." I just finished one for 6 children and offered them a choice of bears between $10 and $16 (about 8 choices) and they had a blast. do not do a private room that will run you over $500. The children loved it. I also did it for my daughter's 2nd birthday and it was a success.
