My husband and I have finally gotten to the point in our relationship where we have got to find help or something drastic is going to happen. Does any one have any suggestions for a good Christian marriage counselor in the Winter Park area? I feel a bit lost. Any suggestions you ladies can offer would be very much appreciated.

What can I do next?

Hi H., I cannot refer you to anyone but can pray for you because my hubby and I have been there and we are still working it out. It is not easy but I have to die to myself on a lot of things I pray and cry & pray some more at times but there is One thing I stood on from the very beginning until I die and that is "I do not believe in divorce - God hates divorce and as a believer in Christ I cannot go against something God hates" I trust HIM to turn my marriage around and let me tell you He has been Faithful...I am already seeing the fruits of me just doing my part and letting God work on my husband and some days its like "are we starting from scratch" but for the most part I see the change in us both and the wall built up between us is being chipped at everyday and slowly coming down and the romance is coming soon I see it just in the small changes we've made. Only God can make it work - because we were like Enemies at home a real war zone and its not a good example/witness for our daughter either. Books by Dennis & Barbara Rainey Family Life has helped and The 5 Love Languages excellent book ....Hope & pray you both take time out to get the help you need God Bless

Please please please get the book Fascinating Womanhood by Helen Andelin.

It is based on christian principals and helped me understand what was going wrong and most importantly how I could fix it. You can not control anybody's actions except your own and this book shows you what to do to get the reaction you want. They give you very clear instructions on what to do to bring the love and understanding back to your marriage. Most definetly worth reading.

check out their website for more info:

Best of luck to you and your family and remember NOTHING is perfect without alot of practice, perserverance and patience!

My hubby and I went to see Richard Erikson. He is Lutherian based and is absolutely wonderful. My husband is Christian and I am Buddhist, but that was not a problem.
His phone number is: ###-###-#### and he is on Lousiana Ave, Winter Park.
I applaud you for making steps to communicate with your husband. Sometimes we just need a mediator to open our eyes to what is going on and to help break down those habitual defense mechanisms.
I wish you both lots of love and luck.

OMG!!! H., I feel for you. I am reading your request and feel as if I have wrote it. I am at the present time going to marriage counseling and my main issue is my mother-in-law, all of my other problems just tricle down from there.

I sometimes feel like she is #1 and I have to compete with her. I have been going to counseling since January.

I go to the Episcopal Christian Counseling Center. They are located on Robinson Street. In the Lake Eola Area. I think that they are great. My counselor is Ginette Olsen. I highly recommend her.

She gives you literature that is written by christian psychologist that necessarily dont beat you with the bible. But everything that they say is backed by the Word.

Here is there website just so you can check it out.

If you just need to talk, I am here. Sometimes it feels better when you can talk to someone that goes through the same things and understands. And believe me I understand.

Remember We need to pray for our Husbands!! The Prayers of a Wife are far greater than those of his mothers!!! (As quoted in The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omarten)

God Bless You!
