I'm looking for a hip group of moms to hang with once in a while or regularly, generally with the kids. Not interested in a religious bonding. New to Portland and very much looking forward to making new friends.

What can I do next?

I just moved from the Hawthorne district a year ago, and I know of a mom's playgroup held at Hinson Church on 20th and Salmon. It is not a religious meeting, it is just held in the church, because they have a large space. It is called Indoor Park, and it is held every Thursday morning from like 9-11:30, I think, unless they have changed it. You might want to call and get current details. The phone number to the church is:
###-###-####. Hope it works out for you!

Hey D....Not in the Hawthorne district but willing to drive!!!(in O.C.) I'm in the same position of trying to keep my sanity and smiling disposition!!! I'm fairly new to Portland as well. My little ones are 2 & 3. I'll be interested to hear what suggestions others give...I just can't seem to find a "group" on my area

Hi D.,

I am part of a mom's group on meetups.com called the Portland Metro Mama's. We're not exclusively in the SE Hawthrone district, but we do meet at places in SE, downtown, NE and some Beaverton areas. There are a couple of mom's groups on meetups.com in the area.

We do playdates, meet at coffee shops, we're going to be going to the farmer's markets, etc. Hope that helps!

H.

I'm in the Woodstock neighborhood and gernally looking for weekend activities with other moms and kids (work full time). I have 2 year old (in on week). So you you find any groups that are, or you are, interested in Sat/Sun activities I would love to join.

Also, have been trying to be more involved with Cafe Au Play (www.cafeauplay.org) who is trying to get a terrific cafe and community meetup on 52nd and Division and this is a great way to meet other parents in the SE area.

If you are looking to also volunteer, and you have breastfeeding experience, your could attend the training for Nursing Mothers Counsel that starts tomorrow. It is free and we get together once a month for educational meetings and we have social outings in the local area. We also have a hot line that you can forward to your house and help other mamas out.

Call ###-###-#### if you are interested.
